Anchor babies shouldn't be American citizens.

Instead, the bond went to a baby in Gainesville, Georgia, described by her mother as an American all the way. A real life nephew of my Uncle Sam, born on the first of January.

"Dr. Wilkes statement, which conflates U.S. post-9/11 fears about Muslims with nativist fears about the loss of Aryan national identity,..."
Oh baloney.
I'm the grandchild of Italian immigrants. Nothing Aryan about me.
But I still want folks who come to the United States to do so in accord with our laws. We permit a large number of LEGAL immigrants every year to come live here. We have a right to regulate, control, and limit immigration to the United States.

"Amnesty for lawbreakers is not the answer, and its time to rethink birthright citizenship.... We need to allocate far more resources, both in terms of money and manpower, to securing our borders and coastlines here at home. This is the most critical task before us, both in terms of immigration problems and the threat of foreign terrorists. Unless and until we secure our borders, illegal immigration and the problems associated with it will only increase." Ron Paul

There should be no such thing as an "Anchor baby" - Only babies born to parents here legally (legal resident or citizen) for more then 12 continuous months, and without evidence of receiving public support or assistance.

If you kill 44 million of your potential workers, its not too surprising we would be desperate for workers.I am a true pro-lifer, but the above is an incredibly specious argument.

Clearly, then, immigrant rights has become a reproductive justice issue. "Reproductive justice" to these people means killing all the babies except the ones born to their favorite victim groups. Here in Atlanta, there's a group called GALEO (Georgia Association of Latino Elected Officials) that has organized a Latino Forum to push illegal immigration. They pretend to stand with the Catholic Church, but it's curious to see where they hold their public gatherings:
Join us to learn more about the Georgia Latino Forum! Light food & beverages will be served. Location:
Atlanta Feminist Womens Health Center
1924 Cliff Valley Way, NE
Atlanta, GA 30329
Tel. 404-248-5445
Parking is available across the street at Unitarian Universalist Congregation of Atlanta.*
The Feminist Women's Health Center is, of course, our town's most notorious abortion clinic. It's frightening even to imagine what sort of food and beverages might be offered there.

Do you really think that's a sufficiently pressing issue to warrant amending the Constitution?
Seems like the proverbial elephant gun and fly...
To: Jim Robinson
Several studies have shown that immigrants -- documented and undocumented -- access social welfare services at much lower rates than U.S.-born citizens. While this is probably a correct statistic, if you compare illegal immigrants and/or illegal immigrants to citizens who are not black, I suspect the results are reversed

Sorry, that argument went down in well deserved flames a century ago when a bunch of racist scumbags used it to try and argue that 3rd generation Americans of Asian descent couldn't be "citizens".

A law is easier to change than passing an unnecessary amendment.
If we can't control who is or isn't a citizen, then there is no point to controlling the borders, other than for contraband.
