What'll happen this week?
This thread is posted on a weekly basis during the season and is intended for folks to get together on a family-safe thread, have a little fun and share a little bit about the sport, your favorite drivers and keep the conversation out of the mud and weeds while doing it.
We also run a Ping list, if you would like to be added, let one of the race thread posters (normsrevenge,WestCoastGal,glock rocks,NYTexan) and we'll make sure you're on it.
The story behind the bow
Published by DaleJr March 5th, 2007
Im up early this morning because we had a weekend off. I figure Ill go over to the shop here in a little bit and see if my guys made it back from Mexico City OK. That was a crazy Busch race yesterday! Shane finished 21st in the Navy car. He was running 11th with just a few laps to go but was hit from behind by another car and knocked off course. It was the first time Shane had raced on a road course, so all things considered I was pleased with the outcome. As for me, Im getting back into the grind this week. We head to Vegas in a few days and desperately need a good run.
A big thanks to everyone who left supportive comments on here. I wish I had time to reply to all of them, but just know I appreciate it very much. Some of you have asked questions or made comments about my bow to the crowd at Fontana. Well, heres the story
The day was already a disaster (for a recap, you can click over to www.DaleJr.com and read by journal entry.) The motor had gone bad, and after spending 20 minutes in the garage trying to fix it, the decision was made to fire it back up and return to the track to log a few more laps. Well, a few more laps was a few too many for that engine. When I fired it back up, it sounded like a cross between a lawn mower and a chain-smokers cough. I wasnt on the track long before it gave way for good. My car spun out, I kept it off the wall, and it came to rest right in front of the grandstands full of fans. They were screaming, hollering, cheering, and I could hear every one of them. They werent heckling me (well, a few mightve been) but for the most part they were wearing red and showing me some love. So as I climbed out of the Bud car to end a bad day, I took a bow to the fans in the grandstands. Whether they were cheering for me or not, hopefully it gave them something to remember. Yall have a good week, and Ill holler back when I get to Vegas. JR

Several years ago Benny Parsons offered $100 for the first pit stop in how many seconds?
Somethings you talk about in publiC, somethings you don't.
You sir, shall be remembered as THE ONE that gave OSHA the idea.
Gas - 4 seconds.
Tires - 4 seconds.
Brake Dust Abatement Program - One hour and 37 minutes.
Oh, your off my Christmas Card list, too.
:)
Yark!
Just give enough lead time ta get this weeks thread posted first before I hold up in my cave. (sharpening spears)
What cash?
12 seconds, so far no one has quite made it. One team almost did last year but I can't remember who.
Don't give Nascar any ideas.
Next they will do away with brakes on the COT and attach a parachute. :)
I love all the current pics they post on there and the message board.
Jr has 3 sites, his own DaleJr.com, the IP site and Jr Motorsports which is the only one that usually has current pics of the Navy car. Probably because Kelley runs that place. He does keep a journal and now he also does a blog, which I posted and a place we can post to him on the IP site. He currently has almost 19,000 friends on that site so getting a response from him is difficult at best. They stopped letting us post pics to him, I have a feeling some woman probably went waaaaaay too far and ruined it for everyone. :( I sent him my "bow" slide show. I did get a response from his PR guy several times though.
Do you all vote everyday for the MPD, I saw the link on there?
And I guess I know where you will be in August.
Matt Kenseth will return to the Milwaukee Mile on Sunday, Aug. 26, in a 50-lap late model event.
I was thinking it was either 13 or 14, but did not remember. It was actually a question, just didn't phrase it that way.
