Well these certainly aren't the Swedes I knew in central Minnesota. When they weren't driving the John Deere in the field they drove their Buick's into town.
My mom did have a lead foot....she was German.

The illustrations in the Wired Magazine article (article III) were excellent and worked well with the whole story of drugs, crime and mystery.

"This thread is useless without pictures......of Ferraris."
Perhaps it is.
I don't know why, but everytime I've tried to post pictures here on freerepublic.com I've failed. Some other people have come up with suggestions, but none of those methods seem to work.
Anyhow, If you like Ferrari, check this out:

I guess the average American Buick drivers are a bit like many Swedish Volvo drivers. Middle class, middle aged and not in too much of a hurry.
In Sweden however, people who are driving American cars like Oldsmobile, Cadillac, Chrysler's and Buick's (especially older ones) have for long been associated with trouble, rebellion and hooliganism!
It all started in the 1950's when young men from the working class bought used, 5-10 year old American cars and cruised around town looking for women in them.
Members of this Swedish subculture were called "raggare" and the traditional picture of them is connected to fights (internally, with the police and with other gangs), heavy drinking and a passion for Rock'n'Roll and big American cars. Before the 1970:s and 1980:s they were rather calm though.
Today "Raggare" still exist, but most of them behave well and seem to be more of serious veteran car enthusiast than troublemakers.

Interesting information.
My grandfather was from Sweden. I think my brother would have been considered part of the "raggare" culture when he was in high school....He is now a retired police officer.
There was always good natured rivalry between the Norwegians and the Swedes when I was growing up. I have often wondered if that is true between the two countries. However we all know the Swedes are better.....like lefse hate lutefisk

"Ferrari Eater...Z06...For less than one third the cost."
Undeniably, you get a lot of car performance for the price of a Z06.
As far as I know, most Ferrari's aren't faster.
From Wikipedia.org:
"Racing driver Jan Magnussen brought the new Z06 to the Nürburgring in Germany. Magnussen drove the Z06 to a time of 7:42.99; few production cars have posted faster times. Car and Driver tested the Z06 in their December 2005 issue, recording a 0 to 60mph time of 3.4 seconds and a standing quarter mile of 11.8 seconds at 125 mph."
- That's really impressive!
What do you get for the extra money if you buy the Ferrari?
Most experts would probably say you get more of competent handling and more of a total driving experience if you choose the Ferrari, but I doubt the differences are that huge. The Z06 is a very sophisticated construction.
I'd say more or less anyone who purchases a Ferrari is attracted to the IMAGE of Ferrari. The legend, the name, the exclusiveness. Nothing wrong with that, but I think few people with genuine car knowledge and experience would claim a Ferrari that costs three times as much as the Z06 is a three times better car than the Chevrolet.

- I would certainly say it goes for the two neighbor countries as well. Most of the times it's good natured, but naturally there are exceptions.
Swedes enjoy telling jokes about Norwegians. Jokes about the Danish and the Finns exist, but can't compete with the "Norge-historier"/Norway jokes in terms of popularity.
Maybe they're not especially amusing, but here's some examples of our Norway Jokes:
