This is fun! The Acronym Finder has 135 meanings for TR. The oldest perhaps are possibly Theodore Roosevelt and Tip and Ring.

Glad to find someone who comprehends.
If we keep using acronyms like we are doing we will again form a country named "Babel".

I didn't say that I saw anything wrong with acronyms. If people don't understand anything at all they can surf to get the answer.

Go back and read your Chaucer. You will see that language evolves in spite of an individual's efforts to keep it static. I love Old English but I wouldn't expect or want it to have lasted unchanged for fifteen hundred years.

I am an advocate for embracing new words as society finds the need for them. There is a marvelously long list of words in common use today that no one knew a hundred years ago.
