The message of required HPV vaccine is, "you have to be promiscuous", which message is not desired by some families.
My GP doesn't think it is a good idea either. He said it should at least be voluntary for awhile just in case there are side effects. He said forcing millions to get this too fast is just wrong.
Hi. I don't look at it like that. Rhetoric in an unrealistic world. I want more studies on it and my girls are not going to be their guinea pigs.
We really don't know about the small pox vaccine - there are questions whether there are some "memory cells" in the white blood cell population that are dormant and hiding out some where in the lymph system, that would rev up in case of exposure, but there aren't any just sitting around making antibodies after a few years.
The State Medicaid programs must offer the vaccines recommended by the (Federal) Advisory Committee on Immunization Practices, under the Vaccines for Children program.

Some of the docs I've talked to are convinced that Medicaid and uninsured patients will have an easier time accessing and affording Gardasil than insured patients - unless the insurance companies are forced to cover it somehow.
I predict that within just 2 or 3 years, the private insurers will see that the girls who receive the vaccine don't have to have nearly as many repeat paps, fewer colposcopies and biopsies. Eventually, in 5 or 6 years, there will be fewer freezing and laser therapy treatments. Somewhere in there, they will begin to cover and strongly encourage the vaccine, without being forced.
I argued with my children's pediatrician that as it was not transmitted by airborne contagion, it should not be mandatory.
This is about making money and redefining deviancy: IOW its "normal" for young women to have numerous sex partners.
So who's campaigning to compel the shots? Mostly it's Merck, which -- surprise! -- manufactures the vaccine. In addition to its direct lobbying, the pharmaceutical giant donates money to Women in Government, an organization of female state legislators that has embraced the mandates. (Also, for whatever it's worth, Texas Gov. Perry's former chief of staff now works for Merck.) The company is also pushing for laws requiring insurers to pay for the shots.
Greed, and Stupid Democrat Govt workers....always a "Hit" to the Taxpayer.
Two 13 year old virgins will not be spreading the viruses. The other dirty secret is the more people you have sex with the greater the risk which means the older people are the ones infected.
It takes some one to infect the young people first. In our modern world this could be the teacher.

The truth is most people ( 90%) that will catch STD's will have sex many many time with many different people. We have a name for that.

There is a lot of science that indicates that while the immunity is not 'lifetime' it is protective for many years and those that were vaccinated are much less likely to develop a severe case of smallpox and less likely to die.
