conduct whatever analysis and opinion you desire.

just remember, the republican social conservative base cannot elect a president on its own. they couldn't even hold senate seats in places like MO in 2006.

now it may well be that a republican presidential candidate cannot win without these votes, but they also cannot win with ONLY these votes. these voters can either be part of a coalition that elects a president, or they can stay at home and hand the election to the Dems.

Absolutely correct.

Something has happened to those people - too much of Karl's Kool-Aid, I think. They don't understand the whole coalition thang.

We even have Rudy boosters coming into this thread to help us with our study! I wasn't going to get into deception-type talking points for several chapters, but since you gave a good example of such here, I'll address it.

Social conservatives are well aware of that detail. The larger point is, for the Family Republicanae to prevail in elections, it needs to keep all the various species from wandering elsewhere and needs to attract species from Democratus and Independiae, such as Catholicae prolifeus and Ruralus gunnutteri. But the pro-choice and pro-gun talking points of the Rudy boosters have already been shown in the field to actually drive those species deeper into the historical range of Democratus.

I disagree. Even if social conservatives all sit out this election, Rudy will (after beating McCain for the Republican nomination of course) draw so much support from among independents and "Rudy" democrats - as well as republicans - that they will form a large enough voting block to sweep him into office.

Rudy is a great leader. And he's conservative where it counts: the war on terror, the economy, law and order issues, and supreme court nominations. And he's got great legs.
