I have often wondered if we all might be treading on thin ice when discussing such things on this forum. If somebody advocates a non-compliant set-up for a firearm, might one run afoul of our friends in Washington? Might this forum as well?
It seems to me that great care must be exercised in this regard.

(Isn't it peculiar that matter what the problem, the government's solution is always "more taxes".)

Kinda like chimps throwing poop to see if it sticks.

I don't see anyone advocating anything non-compliant. If the barrel is to be less than 18" (and/or OAL under 26"), then you need to file a Form 1 (and $200, fingerprints, etc) with the ATF BEFORE proceeding with the modification (before buying the short barrel or cutting down the current one).

So long as the barrel is over 18" and the minmum (folded/collapsed/no-stock) overall length is over 26", yer ok.
