Requirements for Exaltation
The time to fulfill the requirements for exaltation is now (see Alma 34:3234). President Joseph Fielding Smith said, In order to obtain the exaltation we must accept the gospel and all its covenants; and take upon us the obligations which the Lord has offered; and walk in the light and understanding of the truth; and live by every word that proceedeth forth from the mouth of God (Doctrines of Salvation, 2:43).
To be exalted, we first must place our faith in Jesus Christ and then endure in that faith to the end of our lives. Our faith in him must be such that we repent of our sins and obey his commandments.
He commands us all to receive certain ordinances:
1. We must be baptized and confirmed a member of the Church of Jesus Christ.
2. We must receive the laying on of hands for the gift of the Holy Ghost.
3. We must receive the temple endowment.
4. We must be married for time and eternity.
In addition to receiving the required ordinances, the Lord commands all of us to
1. Love and worship God.
2. Love our neighbor.
3. Repent of our wrongdoings.
4. Live the law of chastity.
5. Pay honest tithes and offerings.
6. Be honest in our dealings with others and with the Lord.
7. Speak the truth always.
8. Obey the Word of Wisdom.
9. Search out our kindred dead and perform the saving ordinances of the gospel for them.
10. Keep the Sabbath day holy.
11. Attend our Church meetings as regularly as possible so we can renew our baptismal covenants by partaking of the sacrament.
12. Love our family members and strengthen them in the ways of the Lord.
13. Have family and individual prayers every day.
14. Honor our parents.
15. Teach the gospel to others by word and example.
16. Study the scriptures.
17. Listen to and obey the inspired words of the prophets of the Lord.
Finally, each of us needs to receive the Holy Ghost and learn to follow his direction in our individual lives.

Good luck with that.........
What luck? What here is different than what I said about obeying the commandments?
Do you do all those things? When my father died, even though he had been a Bishop, he didn't know where his place would be in glory. Do you?
As I said, good luck.
Part of the Dem/MSM whack-a-mole strategy of destroying Rep hopefuls for the Presidency until none are left unsullied. The sooner you do it, the better.
I have no problem with a candidate who chooses to adhere to these standards as part of his/her faith.
I'm not a Romney supporter, but I'd rather have a Mormon president that lives his religion than a Methodist (e.g. Hillary) who doesn't practice hers. What does Ms. Clinton believe anyway? You can't tell by her "works," or can you?
Please post a list of the standards that adherents of other churches must live by. It would be interesting to compare.
From what I can gather, for many denominations, the Ten Commandments are merely "non-binding resolutions."
Just what this country needs, someone who thinks they can be perfect by trying to adhere to dietary laws, Church attendence, and paying tithing.
You know wai-ming, Christians do works for the Lord, we do this because we LOVE Him, and not because we will earn a "reward" of godhood.
God recognizes that we cannot live perfectly. When we think we can, it cause one of two things. It causes us to become mentally unstable (cognitive dissonance, etc.) because we recognize our utter fallibility, or it causes us to be deceptive, to lie, and to boast about our own accomplishments.
Christians recognize their inablity to be perfect and rest in the sacrifice of Jesus Christ. Because we recognize this (how great HE is and how weak WE are) we become slaves to Him and do all our works for His glory. We become humbled by this knowledge.
It worries me that you and Mitt think that you can achieve perfection. Why do you think over 1/2 of all Mormons have left the rat race.....it simply cannot be accomplished.
That's why I issued a "good luck" to sevenbak. You guys think you can do it all by yourselves, and what tiny little bit you can't accomplish - then the atonement takes over. But the atonement in LDS opinion saves everybody (Universal atonement) so what you're left with is earning your way to Godhood. It makes a person arrogant or hopeless...those are the only two choices IMHO.
Why? Because having a Mormon as President will tend to legitimize the cult that Joseph Smith invented.
Ouch.
