Bumped to breaking. Recycling this old thread.
I still say illegal immigration will be the most important issue in the 2008 election cycle, but now that the senate is running hell bent for leather in passing their amnesty bill, 2008 may be too late. We must fight like hell to block this abomination now!
And I also still believe that Giuliani must be ruled out by all conservatives concerned with pro-life and liberty issues. It should be clear to by now that Giuliani is simply an opportunistic power hungry liar who will say or do anything to grab the presidency. He would be just as dangerous for America as Hillary. Maybe more so, because he would have the support of a lot of Republicans as he moves his liberal causes.
We can defeat Hillary with a conservative. If we can’t we should fold up our tents and go home.
Thanks for putting up with my quirkiness.
Jim
Jim, I with you on the conservative platform. I don’t believe that we have to catch and deport illegals, however. I think we can move them across the border the same way the Mexicans did it. If we make it a felony to knowingly or negligently hire an illegal alien, and make the punishment mandatory jail time and a fine of not less than $25,000 per offense, the jobs will dry up and most of them will leave (either north or south) the same way they got here.
(I just had a thought: If socialized medicine is so great, why do the illegals stop here instead of going on to Canada?)
I am thankful for your integrity and standards...
..and Free Republic is an oasis to those of us like minded.
We are not alone.
And we will fight for our Republic!
For anyone interested...these numbers took me immediately through to the switchboard...no waiting, no hangups...(maybe it was the time of day, but I got through to a live voice)

BUMP THAT TO THE TOP !!!
Look at how the Senators are now waffling on this immigration bill travesty. They are changing their position because of the enormous outrage that the public has displayed.
They have been taking us for granted, and finally pushed the wrong button.
This issue is the first one I have called and faxed my Senators on. I’m making more calls and sending more faxes this morning.
