al franken in the senate

If you are familar with the Washington novels of Allen Drury, you'll understand why I would refer to Senator Al Franken as "Jawbone".

Exactly, he is President of all the People, and you and I would be able to say mean things, and get in their faces, but he is the President of all the People cannot do that, it demeans the Presidency. God knows that it was demeaned enough with the Slickmeister and shrew in it for 8 Years. Where are the Republicans that should be out there defending the President and Our Military?

Free drugs, billions to Africans, more health insurance crap, etc, etc. The Republicans are fools because you can't tell them from the Democrats anymore

Are you really this ignorant? Do you real bother to even think what you are saying or do you just mindlessly regulate whatever nonsense Democrat Campaign Contributor Mike Savage screams at you?

If you are really this ignorant of all political reality there is utterly NO hope for you at all. Give you just ONE accomplishment out of the thousands that totally NUKES your nonsense whining about Bush.

Chief Justice John Roberts and Associate Justice Sam Alito.

IF you do not know the significance of those two names you are so ignorant it is amazing you can turn on a computer!

Sorry you hate Bush. Get over it. What the matter, did he not stop and shake your hand at some fund raiser? Your emotion based rage at the man is pathetic and childish. Your ignorance of even basic political facts inexcusable.

I have heard the question asked about what we would do "once redeployed", if al-queda or other groups tried to take over in the vacuum left in Iraq, once we were to "redeploy".

I do believe I heard Hagel say one time...that "we would just go back in"....making it sound SO SIMPLE.

I might say it was from a very "simple" man.

BTW...I also read an article last week that said that a "poll" was taken in Poland about how the people of Poland felt about the USA putting an anti-missle shield there...
and not surprisingly...a large percentage of "those polled" said they didn't want the USA to do that...blah, blah.

I think that we all blame the MSM, and rightfully so...for a lot of the misperceptions..and keeping the real news from being told..

However, I am becoming more convinced that this relatively new era of "polling" for every little thing...is also VERY DANGEROUS...

It tends to make governing become more like anarchies, rather than a republics or democracies...

People that are "polled" do not have even a percent of a percent of the knowledge that our country's leaders do...but the MSM and the leaders' political enemies USE those results to try to force changes in foreign and domestic policies...

NOT GOOD!! IMHO>

I am sure some of the dossiers the congressional committees might use...COULD include some posts from FR, as ammunition.

They LOVE to have examples of "conservatives" that bash Pres. Bush at every turn.

Any anger that President Bush shows will be presented by the DBM as desperate, he is capable of being very angry and can even be mean and nasty. It is not Presidential and will take away from his likability which is one of the fine points that got him elected. I personally would like to see him stand Monkey Boy Gregory,Tim Moron,H Thomas and all the hateful scumbags of the DBM up facing away from the president in a long line and have him go down that line and kick each and every one of them in the butt until he could not raise his foot any longer. Helen's butt would take both feet like a drop kick. I am LOL at the thought...

It is hard to escape the conclusion that you have simply lost your minds.

True. The Dems in my area (a large majority) think that this war on terror stuff is just a lot of hype conjured up by Bush and Cheney to hold on to power and enrich their big business supporters. And you get the impression that there is a lot of gleefulness at seeing the businesses and other movers and shakers scared over what the "downtrodden" in the world might do to them.

This lack of defending himself is one reason why Republicans in Congress have seemed to abandon him and continues to upset our base

And the difference is that the President is in his second term, so he is disqualified to run for another. The Republicans in Congress, however, are looking for a lifetime in the same position. If they were interested in doing what is best for the United States instead of doing what is best for Senator (fill-in the blank) perhaps their perspective would be different, and more in line with President Bush.

This could be solved with a contract between Republicans in Congress and the American people to perform certain things and retire after a pre-specified number of terms. I wonder if anybody in the Republican party ever thought of doing something along those lines...

The President tried it your way, only to have the Hagles, McCain's and others rush to television to dispute him. They made things worse than had Bush said nothing, by allowing the MSM to claim Republican dissension in the ranks.

There was/is dissension in the ranks and has been almost from the onset. Powell and Armitage were leaking to the MSM almost from the invasion of Iraq. Despite having control over both houses of Congress, the Reps have had a difficult time herding cats to get a unified position on almost anything. The MSM and Dems have exploited these divisions.

I ask again, where is our Lanny Davis? Where is our Moveon.org? I'll tell you where they are, they are basking in the glow of the MSM spotlight, getting love for dissing Bush. Chuck Hagel is simply a dishonorable man. The same for McCain, the same for Lindsey Graham. I give Graham a break, because all JAG's are brain-damaged to begin with.

I don't understand your analogy. Lanny Davis is a diehard supporter. Hagel and McCain are like Zell Miller. Graham and McCain have lately been strong on supporting victory in Iraq. They were not so helpful prior to that. Why hasn't Karl Rove been more visible?

It sounds to me like you want Pres. Bush to get into a "sound bite contest", or a spitting war with the anti-war crowd in the Congress.

No just fight back against this vermin instead of calling them patriots and honorable men.

When you don't formulate your own views it make it very difficult to defend the ones others have given you.

Brilliant stuff mainepatsfan.Had to be repeated.

You sure have that right. Talk Radio is/was very irresponsible in the last two plus years especially. Rush was the least of the Offenders. They were so tone deaf that they felt that after complaining about, sliming, sniping at, and downright condemning GWB and the GOP Majority every single day that the listeners would run right out and vote for The Pubbies. Their behavior contributed mightily to the Pubbies being in the Minority now, and left GWB in a terrible position.

The Republicans are fools because you can't tell them from the Democrats anymore.

While there has been a lot about the previous Congress and the Repubs 12 year control of it I do not like, that statement is what I most disagree with from your "side", if you will.

Your side said they didn't vote last year because the Republicans were getting too liberal. I was assured that letting the Republicans lose last year would bring out the TRUE conservative Republican Congress and President of 2008. Your side said there wasn't "one thin dime's worth of difference" between the two parties. They claimed the lesser of two evils was STILL evil! Many on your side even claimed that the dems couldn't do any more harm than the past 12 years of Republican rule.

Like Pukin Dog said, I too argued with these folks that a dem controlled Congress would devastate the country and be totally opposed to ANYTHING conservative. Well now they've had their cute little vote, our GIs more then anyone else will suffer for it, and Pelosi/Murtha aren't through yet, but are plotting even more harm.

Despite the RINOs, there are still huge differences between the parties. The Republicans might not be as conservative as you'd like, but they are not socialist radicals bent on America's destruction. The moveon.org dems are fueled by their hatred of us and white guilt at our noble achievements as a nation and people. They stand opposed to everything we find good. Social/Religious conservatives are the target of today dems. Putting them in power to spite some RINO makes no sense from a survival standpoint.

I was hoping that we conservatives can come to some sort of consensus before 2008. I'm not sure we can do it. While I'm not ready to decide on a presidential candidate to rally 'round, I've heard that a nominated Rudy will tear us further apart. This is indeed where our party is headed, I'm afraid. Additionally, 21 Republican senators are up for reelection next year, versus 12 dems. Without every single available vote, we'll fall further in the Senate.

2008 is looking a lot worse.
