You have to see how smooth Romney handles this heckler:
http://www.mittreport.com
Unchecked bigotry, illustrated by this heckler, toward Mormons is unbelievable. If someone stood up and commented about a person's gender, race, etc., the public and media would be outraged. My guess the mainstream media lets this go unchecked.

The facts in question was whether or not the man was a plant. You consider a request that prove your accuation the man was a plant idiotic???? In other words you feel you can say anything you please and not be challenged on its validity????? Obvious when challenged on facts you can't provide you resort to childish name calling. Somehow I am not suprised as I have found that is the mentality of those who accuse with no proof. You have already proved my point you had no proof so there is no further reason for me to continue a conversation with a rude, childish individual who uses name calling when challenged. Seems to be the norm for about a third of those that post here. However, you are not fooling anyone but yourseld. Have a nice day.

Best wishes to Mitt. The more I see of him, the more I like him. Well, of course. He's only slightly less of a gun-grabbing, pro-abortion, pro-gay marriage liberal than Giuliani. No wonder you may begin to like him. But how about rooting for the conservative side for a change?

No, actually, I appreciate those qualities in him. His presentation is beautiful, and that does not put me off. As I said, I had this impression only from reading his words. I think it was an interview with him. My problem is the lack of substance. Just for example, I watched a video of his acceptance speech. It was about 20 minutes long. He spoke for about 10 minutes about his family, all very charming. To analyze what exactly he said, I think it amounts to "I'm running because my good family supports me." After piles and piles of warm fuzzy -- and I take into consideration that he is speaking to a friendly audience that doesn't need to be argued anything -- he recites a bullet list of mostly conservative positions.
I just didn't feel the gritty realism of someone actually appreciating these issues. His statement about supporting the war in Iraq as long as there was any chance of success struck me as odd in a way that would be tedious to analyze and explain. My candidate endears me to him by the depth of understanding he demonstrates on issues that I care about, not with personal references. When Romney talks about "bickering" in Washington, that just doesn't wash with me. The war debate or judicial nomination debate, for instance, is about matters of real consequence, and the fight between one side and the other is something that needs to be resolved by victory for the righteous, not by "come on now everybody just be nice to each other and work this out." It demeans my principles to suggest that this is just squabbling.

You never have been in the middle of an LDS sacrament meeting when 'evangelicals' sitting in the audience stand up and scream and shout and interrupt the whole meeting. No, I haven't been there or done that. It sounds like a lot more fun than this video, though.

"Oh. Wow, that's kind of bizarre, isn't it."
I've had a few friends that are Mormons and been to a couple of Babtisms. Once got about half-way through a "standard" old-time hymn and realized that the "by his stripes we are healed" refered to Joseph Smith instead of Jesus!
That said, I imagine that many of our greatest Presidents would not pass the religious "litmus test" many now have (Jefferson created his own Bible with all of the miracles crossed out, etc.). The few Mormons I have known are very conservative, independent, pro-military, family oriented, etc. A conservative's conservative.
Whether Romney is one deep down I don't know, but I doubt it if he was able to get elected in Massachusetts. His old abortion record is liberal, but he says he's changed. Some anti-gun laws he passed were noted to me by another Freeper to be the best that he could do with a liberal congress in Mass. And I agree with the "...have to compromise..." part - come ELECTION time, but in the primaries its too soon.

It's a regular spamorama around here; that's why I rarely read the threads anymore. Just reading the articles makes me happy!

Once got about half-way through a "standard" old-time hymn and realized that the "by his stripes we are healed" refered to Joseph Smith instead of Jesus! That's really odd, because I and my entire family are Mormon and we have NEVER understood any reference in any scripture or hymn with the words "by his stripes we are healed" as referring to anyone but Jesus Christ.

Gee, I've never heard that hymn. I've been to lots of baptism services. Please tell us all the name of it so I can verify your claim. I'm happy to post the entire text right here as soon as you show me where it is.
Waiting patiently...

Gotta say I like this quote by Mitt:
"I said to my wife 'In your wildest dreams, did you ever think you would be married to a man running for President of the US? And my wife replied 'Mitt, you're not IN my wildest dreams'"

I tried to look up "by His stripes we are healed" on the Church web site under hymns, any lyrics, and came up with 0 matches.

ISA 53:5 But he was pierced for our transgressions,
he was crushed for our iniquities;
the punishment that brought us peace was upon him,
and by his wounds we are healed.

This wasn't about scriptural references, it was about claiming this was sung in a hymn at a baptism and then interpreted to be about JS. Isaiah was right on, but it's irrelevant to this post. The original poster is lying through his teeth to further his ill mannered cause.
