I think the mosque should be built. Right after a Christian church capable of holding 70,000 worshippers is built in Mecca.

And, those funders aren't going anywhere. They didn't get their mosque this time, but they're not going to give up.
Unfortunately, due to unfavorable demographics and plentiful petrodollars, the outcome is inevitable, IMO.
