Romney 171; McCain 93; Rudy 16
The tally: Romney 171; McCain 93; Rudy 16. These numbers were taken from official press releases and other public endorsements. We'll have a detailed list available on Tuesday.
Are you counting Jeb Bush?
The sourcing is a bit loosey-goosey. Time will give us more solid numbers....it will be interesting to see how the business sector lines up behind our "sorta conservative" candidates :-)
LOL
fyi
Their 'conservative' is Hillary.
Interested?
The "leaders" of the GOP are so wildly popular right now with the base that we will no doubt do whatever they instruct us to.
I look forward to seeing your list on Tuesday.
Jim Bopp reviewed the record of Mitt Romney as Governor of Massachusetts and questioned Romney personally; concluding that Romney is firmly and sincerely pro-life before giving his endorsement (see Exclusive Interview with James Bopp on Mitt Romney).
I'm very familiar with the work of Jim Bopp and have heard him speak on four occasions at pro-life events I attended. I have great respect for his judgment on this subject. The issue of Mitt Romney's pro-life position was settled for me based on Bopp's endorsement.
More about James Bopp, Jr. Esq.:
James Bopp is a very prominent attorney and leading figure in the pro-life movement. His practice of law emphasizes the biomedical issues of abortion, foregoing and withdrawing life-sustaining medical treatment and assisted suicide, not-for-profit corporate and tax law, and campaign finance and election law. Bopp is a leading opponent of the McCain-Feingold campaign finance reform law.
Many hundreds of pro-life activists have used Bopps legal arguments and memos in their lobbying efforts and work to draft legislation. Bopp has given speeches at many pro-life events and has been an editor for multiple publications. He has served as a member of several committees including:
General Counsel to National Right to Life Committee (1978-present)
General Counsel to James Madison Center for Free Speech (1994-present)
Special Counsel to Focus on the Family (2004-present)
President of National Legal Center for the Medically Dependent and Disabled, Inc (1984-present)
Presidents Committee on Mental Retardation
Congressional Biomedical Ethics Advisory Committee
National Institutes of Health, Human Fetal Tissue Transplantation Research Panel

Endorsements=Lobbyists?
Actually, I heard Romney's own testimony as to his conversation on pro-life issues. It was very believable. i was quite impressed by his sincerity. I don't know if I would actually vote for him, but that issue is pretty well cleared up in my mind.
Jeb steers advisers toward Romney here.
