Read post 53. Waging war and voting to fund it are two entirely different things are they not?

Voting to fund war, the pulling those funds mid stream is outrageous. I can assure you sir that Washington certainly would not be pleased.

Democratic Congress, through many stupid comments made this week via their attention whore mouthpiece Pelosi, claim the power to wage war and seek to do so via this pathetic resolution and the bill Murtha has pieced together in his continued state of dementia.

But hey praise Allah, they are just questioning the government so it's all good right?

I congratulate you and thank you. A rational response. However..

Voting to fund war, the pulling those funds mid stream is outrageous.

Debatable is it not? Surely Washington would never have assumed that the Executive Branch would have taken so many powers upon itself in the last century and a half. Also consider that in his mind if there were to be war there would be a definitive Declaration except in the most extreme cases. And even then one can't reasonably assume that he would approve to what amounts to not much more than wars reminiscent of the British and French in their colonial quests of the 18th and 19th centuries. These US are looking to establish 'democracy' (whatever the hell that is..Wilsonian tripe) in a region that has continuously exhibited a disdain for Western forms of government. Not to mention in a nation that was created by the last spreading democracy adventure we undertook.

You can't hand one branch a blank check to continue belligerency as long as they see fit, even when the wake of those actions over long term could possibly be detrimental to the long term stability of a region. You have no end. When will the War on Terror be over? When all terrorism is gone? Which party will define terrorism? All of Islam? Good luck with wiping out a religion (cultish as it is) of over 1 billion people.

It is not unreasonable to question exactly when the troops are coming home, and if one is in a position of power to demand certain checks and make reasonable arguments against actions undertaken in a war with undefined objectives.

Now do I believe that Pelosi and Murtha have done this? Hell no. They're nothing more than politicians rambling to the masses, much as Republicans (like it or not) are playing to the fears of the same masses to garner support for the action
