Bill Simon staunchly Conservative!
Ran unsuccessfully for CA gov.
Simon was eating breakfast with Rudy the morning of 9/11.
I did not know that. Thanks.
> Bill Simon staunchly Conservative!
His stated positions certainly are.
> Ran unsuccessfully for CA gov.
Yes, and this bugs me. Davis was perhaps the worst governor in California history, and 2002 was a bleak, bleak time for us. He had huge negatives, he completely mishandled the energy in California resulting in serious crises-- all the stuff that made the recall election possible. And Simon lost to that miserable incompetent, because his campaign was about as bungled as it could be. It was a nightmare. So forgive me if I question his political strategies and savy.

Yes, and he also served under Rudy as Assistant United States Attorney in NY in the late 80s. This is actually not a plus for Simon's recommendation of Rudy in my book, because friends will often blindly overlook the relevant negatives on the balance sheet (like, oh, all the social liberalism).
Listen: I *want* to like Rudy. Honestly I do. However, it's not just a single issue but many. I *love* that he's fiscally conservative and strong against terror. But everything else is as liberal as Pelosi, and his public philandering and divorces makes me question his judgement-- are we ready for more "Clinton values" in the highest office in the land? And do you think the MSM will leave such a scandalous past alone? Fuggeddaboutit.
Don't worry, Rudyphiles-- I'll vote (holding my nose) for your boy against Hitlery should he win the primaries. But I will fight for someone else until then. Sorry.
