Bill Ayers and Bernadine Dorhn, former members of the terrorist group the Weather Undeground will share the bill with Cindy Sheehan this weekend at an "emergency" impeachment summit in New York City.
The Guardian gives this thumbnail sketch of the unrepentant terrorist couple:
In the course of his time with the Weathermen (named after the Bob Dylan lines "You don't need a weatherman to know which way the wind blows"), Ayers' girlfriend, Diana Oughton, died with two other Weathermen when a bomb they were making exploded in their Greenwich Village apartment in 1970. Ayers went on the run with Bernadine Dohrn, the group's most charismatic member, who the former FBI director, J Edgar Hoover, described at the time as "the most dangerous woman in America - La Pasionara of the lunatic left".
Ayers and Dohrn have two sons of their own, and have also brought up the son of fellow members Kathy Boudin and David Gilbert, both still serving sentences for a 1981 robbery that left four dead. Ayers and Dohrn gave themselves up in 1980, after both sons had been born, surrendering to the authorities in Chicago. Ayers spent only around 30 days in jail and Dohrn seven months.
In his book, Ayers defends the Pentagon bomb, which President Nixon described as "the work of cowardly terrorists". Ayers writes: "The operation cost just under $500 and no one was killed or even hurt. In that same time, the Pentagon spent tens of millions of dollars and dropped tens of thousands of explosives on Vietnam, killing or wounding thousands of human beings." He also defends himself against the terrorism charges: "Terrorists terrorise; they kill innocent civilians, while we organised and agitated."
From the press release for the impeachment summit:
Co-sponsors include: AfterDowningStreet.org; Progressive Democrats of America; Green Party of the United States; Democrats.com; Grandmothers Against the War; Granny Peace Brigade; Code Pink, Hip Hop Caucus ; ImpeachBush.org; Not In Our Name; Brooklyn Greens; NY Greens; Women's International League for Peace and Freedom, NYC Chapter; Gold Star Families for Peace, Bill Ayers, Bernadine Dohrn, Cynthia McKinney.
Workshops at the impeachment summit include one called "Make Hip-Hop, Not War"
Ramsey Clark will be there too-- still mourning for his friend Saddam Hussein.
They will win unless we speak out and get more involved.
...target rich environment...
This is almost as bad as watching reruns of The Towering Inferno.
What a hoot-n-nanny....What a life ....to have nothing to do but worry about who's after you...
LOL!! Nothing more pathetic than old frail hippies still fighting for "the cause".
Where's C.A.I.R?
:D
IIRC it was the other way around, Dylan wrote those lines as one of his little jokes. Still, The Guardian continues ripping the wicked US while ignoring so many important issues in the UK that could usefully get more attention. What's new.
Hang 'em.
"The Towering Inferno" is a classic.
Does ANYONE even the lefties that will be there for one second believe that Bush will get a fair trial at this thing?
I can tell you right now, the dems are the most out in the open anti-Bush and anti-American than I have ever seen.
Almost EVERY ONE of the dem speakers believe they have a mandate from the American people that voted them into power in the 2006 election to pretty much try to neuter GWB and our military ASAP.
It makes me totally sick to my stomach because it now seems to me after watching the last 3 hours of the House debate, that the dem steamroller is unstoppable from this point forward.
When at least 10 Repubs side with these traitors, because they believe the 2006 election was a "mandate" against all things Bush and US military, and are trying to save their political hide by voting for this "non-binding" resolution, it is politically "over".
The dems were unbelievable in their outright totally rude boldness of describing the MANY "errors" made by GWB. He was called a liar, and basically totally stupid and "untrustworthy".
If I didn't know any better, I could swear I was watching an impeachment trial of GWB.
What really makes me sick, is the fact that the WHOLE WORLD IS WATCHING IT ALSO.
When Murtha can be CIC without being elected to the post with no one in the House Repubs to even lay a finger on him, IMHO, it's politically "over" for the right. There will not be any help given by the MSM in the fight to stop the dems in their "endeavor", and I don't see enough energy from the right to try to stop them.
Kristinn, if it wasn't for JR and FR, you, and all who take the time and energy to ACTUALLY get down in the trenches and try to fight FACE-TO-FACE in this battle on the homefront, for what I believe is our very political and national survival, I would have given up the fight a long time ago.
I have posted this cartoon from Pookie18's FR "Today's Toons" thread on FR in the last few days so many times to try to get the point across of what the dems and Murtha are REALLY trying to do to the USA with their "non-binding resolution".
This is the left's REAL objective, to make the US look weak, and "untrustworthy" in the eyes of the world. If they can accomplish that feat, IT IS "OVER". These, IMHO, are the stakes involved in NOT standing up in VERY SUPERIOR numbers against the leftists on March 17th.
I apologize to my fellow Freepers and to you for my depressing rant. I just needed to get it out.
One more time:
The whole thing reminds me of 'Laugh in' on Medicaid.
Haven't you always found wunderground's name a little disturbing?
Anyway, Kathy Boudin is out of prison now after only 22 years. She essentially caused the death of a police officer in the Brinks robbery - about 1/2 a mile away from where I went to high school.
Seldom has a photo so well depicted a bunch of playacting moonbats sitting around taking themselves way too seriously.
That said these people are the lowest of low. They are so low....they need to take off their socks to see.
Har! Impeachment?
It's getting a little late for that. In fact, right now it feels like the 2008 race for President is already in full swing.
