As can see that I recalled correctly; the Contract with America does not state anything about abortion, reducing abortions, getting better judges so abortion would be overturned. Nothing. Nada. Zip.
But Newt found the time to mention welfare reform, the military, reforms for Congress, etc.
Nothing about gun control either.
'94 was not a presidential year Newt wisely determined to make his contract appeal to a majority of voters and he limited the scope to address only the issues that congress could actually correct.
Prior to Newt's Contract with America, it was generally thought and stated, that "representative elections were local politics" and Newt abolished that thinking.
IMO, abortion belongs in the states, but Second Amendment rights do not. I will be voting for CIC and if Mayor Rudy wins the GOP nomination, he will get my vote.
