Rudolph W. Giuliani yesterday removed any lingering doubts that he was running for president, and, without mentioning President Bush by name, offered pointed criticism on how the Iraq war has been handled.
Mr. Giuliani has behaved like a presidential candidate for months, forming an exploratory committee, raising money, building a campaign staff and making appearances around the country. But until now, he has repeatedly stopped short of a definitive statement of his intentions even joking about his nondeclarations in recent days.
Republican activists and consultants, citing his early withdrawal from the 2000 Senate race, said he needed to put to rest fears that he might not follow through. But in characteristic fashion, Mr. Giuliani said he would do things on his own timetable.
But on Larry King Live on CNN yesterday, Mr. Giuliani twice said, Yes, Im running, according to a transcript provided by CNN before the interview was broadcast. Asked if he would make a formal announcement of the kind favored by other candidates, he said, I guess you do.

Ping.
OK, he's running for president, but the question remains, as a member of which party?
Now we just have to find out for which party.
Will he run as a Democrat, Republican, or Other?
((((({PING))))
How large is the Rudy "ping" list at present?
about 140 and counting. This morning we got 2 more and will probably get more this afternoon.
As a Republican? LOL
;o)
Wow, that's really getting up there. I've noticed that certain FReepers are becoming more and more combative over Rudy. That is likewise telling.
I've decided that there isn't that much more to say to any of them. We'll settle this in the primaries and one side is going to lose. I think it will be their side, and most of them (publicly at least) claim to believe otherwise. We'll see.
He makes a better democrat then a republican.
Seems the more volatile the posts the more people want to join the Rudy bandwagon.

I saw the interview and that is a gross mischaracterization of what Rudy said. Then again I expect that from the NY Times.
Oh noooooooooo not the SBR!!! Yikes!
You have already admitted he is more of a Republican than YOU.
Just another thing the Rudy supporters are going to have to explain away. Add this little tidbit to his other anti-conservative views, including being a Global Warming nut, and what do we have? L-I-B-E-R-A-L.
I watched what I could of that interview last night and Rudy came off as very "I could care less", towards Pro-Life/Pro-2nd amendment people.
Be may be a more republican, but he is no conservative. That is why I will not vote for him.
