The earth is millions of years old. We have compiled weather data for the last 100 years. That's a pretty small sample to extrapolate from.
It was either yesterday or the day before - Cavuto had a woman who was attempting to explain that the hot weather and the cold weather is both due to global warming. After that, I did not listen to much, except Neil said the same thing you just did - with millions of years, how can you accurately predict an event with only 150 years worth of data.
I heard a funny analogy. In terms of comparison to the earth's history, it's as if we took temperature data from, say, 1pm to 2pm on a Tuesday afternoon in the early summer and tried to declare that it's our own activities that are causing the temperature change...
