LOS ANGELES (AP) - The Los Angeles Zoo paid $4,500 to an expert in the ancient Chinese art of feng shui to ensure three endangered golden monkeys on loan from China can have a strong life force.
Consulting the feng shui expert was part of the cost for a $7.4 million enclosure for the golden monkeys debuting at the zoo later his year. Feng shui focuses on balance in design to promote health and happiness.
Feng shui is in demand among high-end architects and interior designers, but Beverly Hills-based feng shui expert Simona Mainini said the Los Angeles Zoo's effort may be a first in animal enclosure design

Change the trim to chocolate brown or charcoal grey and paint the door red. It will probably work. Red doors are welcoming.
Sounds like maybe the Chinese haven't anything to do with it beyond supplying the monkeys. This seems to me like 100% California New Age / Artsey fartsy crapola. Expensive crapola to be sure but . . .
Such conduct calls for a touch of the cat-o-nine tails. This conduct is an object lesson as to why our original somewhat healthy pre-1960 society had exclusionary rules, both express and implied.
Money well spend IMHO since I think all the Feng Shui fans I've come across all escaped Zoo monkeys, perhaps because they had no Feng Shui there, so maybe now they'll have no reason to escape and will stop stealing my bananas!
