I don't know how to do links, but you might want to do a little checking as to just how much a "hero" McCain wasn't.

Three days in captivity, and he was ready to sell the US out. This was after only two missions. No hero to this Navy family!

I think you will find that this false "claim" was originally made by our NEWSMAX nutjobs.

Your assertion that only REAL heroes don't break under torture is an insult to every POW was tortured and divulged anything, even if it was innocuous info.

We all stand by awaiting YOUR experiences as a POW and how you "kept the stiff upper lip."

From a MediaMatters story (and McCain's book)

http://mediamatters.org/items/200512090006

According to McCain, "he gave his captors some information beyond his name, rank, and serial number, he has also repeatedly said that he divulged "no useful information," and he has described in detail the considerable amount of false information that he instead provided...."

"Eventually, I gave them my ship's name and squadron number, and confirmed that my target had been the power plant. Pressed for more useful information, I gave the names of the Green Bay Packers' offensive line, and said they were members of my squadron. When asked to identify future targets, I simply recited the names of a number of North Vietnamese cities that had already been bombed. [Page 194*]"
