Repealing GC '34 & '68 would have been nice, but the Republicans NEVER had any intention of doing so. Most Republicans are only marginally less liberal than Democrats, and in fact are just as enamoured of the power of government and horrified by the thought of individual freedom as most Democrats.
Ga Democrat (former senator) Zell Miller is a lot more conservative than any of the current leading Republican presidential hopefuls.
