OH may this be true!!!! Yahoooooo! Got one, finally!!! (One of the most corrupt NC Democrats and that's saying a lot!!!!)

He convened the NC Legislature after it had adjourned and two legislators could not attend - one was sick and one was on honeymoon - and got his NC Lottery bill passed (the NC Education lottery....that is)....bringing all the corruption involved with state lotteries to NC....and it has been a big BUST! They are trying to come up with ways to raise more $$$ (for the schools of course) because the lottery is not bringing in enough cash.

And he got checks from teens, etc. from his optometrist friends in order to get him to engineer passage of a bill through the NC Legislature requiring all school children in NC to have eye exams.....

and other assorted shenanigans.....

Finally!!!! Black is OUT!!!!

I hate corruption in any public official regardless of party. But if they must be corrupt, indicted and convicted, let them be Democrats like Mr. Black.

"Black had to forge an unlikely co-speakership in 2003 with GOP Rep. Richard Morgan when both parties won 60 seats in the House. Former Rep. Michael Decker pleaded guilty in August to federal charges of accepting $50,000 to join the Democratic Party that year, a move that ultimately helped Black remain speaker.

Decker is among five Black allies who have either pleaded guilty, agreed to be sentenced or were convicted of conspiracy, obstruction of justice, and lobbying law violations in the past seven months. Others included Meredith Norris, Black's former political director, and former state lottery commissioner Kevin Geddings, a Black appointee.

The State Board of Elections ruled in March that Black's campaign illegally accepted corporate contributions and checks with the payee line left blank. His campaign later forfeited at least $16,875 in contributions, and the board asked state prosecutors to decide whether Black should be charged criminally with breaking state campaign finance laws.

It wasn't immediately clear if Black's deal with federal prosecutors would also resolve that issue."

WRAL omits the lottery vote information. WRAL news is heavily slanted towards the Democrats. They LOVE TaxEasley.

Right on....I hate when some on FR excuse corruption of a Repub by pointing to a Dem...it is all B.S....but it is about time some guilty Dems paid for their misdeeds... You just hear about it more when it is a Repub considering the media.....

I noticed that also. However, they did attribute a comment to the Democratic Party chief, but never identified Black as a Democrat. Had he been a Republican, the article would probably have repeated it at least 5 times.

This paragraph in the article is really telling of how some politicians play the game: "Former Rep. Michael Decker pleaded guilty in August to federal charges of accepting $50,000 to join the Democratic Party that year, a move that ultimately helped Black remain speaker." A corrupt Republican and corrupt Democrats working together to commit a felony. They didn't say if the ones making the bribe were penalized in any manner -- shouldn't they be?

I wish my mother had lived to see this! Every single day I could hear her downstairs reading the paper, mumbling to herself. She was INFURIATED by this man.

Oh - wish she could have been here to see this occur too! Sorry she is not. Black infuriated a LOT of us. Finally, finally, finally he is out. Just one cog in the corrupt NC Democratic party machine - but a very big cog. Thank GOD!

FWIW, there is nothing in that article that positively identifies him as a Democrap..............is he? of course, otherwise Republican would have been mentioned in every single paragraph........

What about Kevin Geddings???? I thought Black was neck deep in the lottery shenanigans....getting it passed and getting his cronies into lush lottery jobs.

True. All North Carolinians who have been paying attention know he is the chief Democrat in the NC Legislature.

But of course people around the country don't know. Let's see if any of the national media point out his party affiliation.

More on his crime:

"The newspaper said on its Web site that Black's attorney, Ken Bell, confirmed that Black will plead guilty on Thursday to one count of accepting illegal gratuities. The felony charge carries a maximum sentence of 10 years in prison and a fine of $250,000."
