All the towns around me have 4 second yellow lights
My town is 6 secs.
I have to be careful when I drive elsewhere.

Red light cameras are for communists and others incapable of self government.
Our Founding Fathers would rip them down if they were here.
And then shed tears for our present day lack of fortitude.

How about if you just sent them a picture of your money?

Some day you just might get caught in the middle of an intersection too! All your scary scenario notwithstanding, being in the intersection when the light turns red isn't against the law, only entering the intersection after the light has turned red is.
The language of the law is something along these lines:
"Vehicular traffic facing a steady red signal shall stop before entering the crosswalk on the near side of the intersection or, if none, then before entering the intersection and shall remain standing until a green indication is shown." (Emphasis Added)

Wow! So pompous and cock-sure of your superiority, eh? I have NEVER run a red light. Please show me where I claimed "NEVER" to have run a red light. Back in February I merely posted the comment that the only sure way not to get one of those tickets was to not run a red light.
While I'm not sure what your problem is, I am sure your reaction to my post is a little over the top.

“...Florida is oft made fun of, but no red light cameras down here.”
Your comment just reminded me of Lipa City, Batangas, Philippines (45 miles south of Manila), which has nearly 250,000 people. The town is one continuous flow of cars on every street. NOT ONE stop light. NOT ONE stop sign in the whole city. They use traffic police at some intersections, sometimes.
To: laotzu
They can also report the ticket to the owner’s respective auto insurance company. No doubt insurance rates will rise, if the policy isn’t cancelled.

I have an idea. Don’t run red lights.

I am pleased, but curious as to what brought this thread back to life. Please advise.

I wonder if replacing the cameras ever week would outweigh the revenue they produce?

Ask XenaLee. That was the first post since the first day. I just saw it in the post list today.
