When I see people arguing that Bush has been inadequate on immigration I suspect that they are dem plants. Immigration wasn't even discused in the 2000 election. Republicans felt that tough immigration stances in California by Pete Wilson turned the state from red to blue. The fact that Bush has been willing to address this political live wire and try to guide the party on an issue that had been completely neglected for many years is a plus.
I am sorry that the instant gratification crowd refuses to understand that Mexicans don't wear magic shoes that will transport them home by clicking their heels three times like Dorothy in the Wizard of Oz. Impatience with the WOT or immigration is juvenile and counterproductive if not down right subversive.

Would you please explain what you are talking about in post #21, and why was directed to me?
Thanks in advance.

Wait a minute--and I'll not use the term 'red state' to indicate traditional Conservatism--tough illegal immigration stances didn't CHANGE the state's net allegiance from American to anti-American--it sought to preserve our American heritage, sovereignty and allegiance. Instant gratification isn't sought. Realistic, effective, Constitutionally-sound action by elected public servants IS. I'd like to see our President use the Bully Pulpit for much more 'guidance' in the borders issues. And I'd like to see a lot more (R) support for the President in Iraq!

Bush is far more than merely inadquate on Immigration.
He pushes for amnesty and refuses to use his powers as Commander In Chief to close the borders using the National Guard or the Army other than a token show of force that is not even allowed to respond to incursions other than to report and retreat.
He's borderline incompetant when it comes to this issue.
If he's not incompetant then he's borderline treasonous. Either way the man supports by words and deeds the invasion of this country by those not of this country, some of which wish our destruction.
