SAF Applauds Third Mayor to Bow Out of Bloomberg's Coalition

BELLEVUE, Wash., Feb. 12 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- A third mayor has bowed out of New York Mayor Michael Bloomberg's anti-gun mayors' coalition, saying he is in favor of disarming criminals, but "not at the risk of losing our Constitutional freedom."

SAF learned from the staff at Gun Week that Rio Rancho, NM Mayor Kevin Jackson has withdrawn from Mayors Against Illegal Guns, without having attended a single meeting of the group, which now reportedly involves more than 150 mayors. Jackson, a self-described "constitutionalist" and career Army veteran, explained to Gun Week that he believes strongly in getting guns out of the hands of criminals, but he draws the line at disarming law-abiding citizens.

"Mayor Jackson is a good man," said SAF founder Alan M. Gottlieb, "who wants to do the right thing for his community, and walking away from Bloomberg's organization certainly meets that standard. His military background makes him a leader, and we think other mayors need to fall in behind him and let Mayor Bloomberg and his anti-gun cronies wallow in the mud they want to sling against firearms dealers, gun makers and gun owners.

"With Bloomberg's questionable gun shop sting under investigation by the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives, and the recent announcement that none of the gun dealers he targeted with that vigilante operation will be prosecuted, Bloomberg's anti-gun scheme seems to be falling apart," Gottlieb stated.

"Nobody more than this nation's 80 million law-abiding gun owners wants to disarm every criminal in America," Gottlieb said, "but we cannot use that premise as an excuse to ratchet down on the gun rights of honest citizens. The Bloomberg agenda is to make all gun laws in America as restrictive as New York, and we've already seen that those laws disarm the wrong people, and don't prevent criminals from committing crimes.

"Fortunately," Gottlieb said, "some mayors are seeing through the smoke screen. They have quickly determined that there is far more to Bloomberg's plan than simply taking guns away from criminals, and they won't be a party to any program that attacks one of our most precious constitutional rights."

The Second Amendment Foundation (http://www.saf.org) is the nation's oldest and largest tax-exempt education, research, publishing and legal action group focusing on the Constitutional right and heritage to privately own and possess firearms. Founded in 1974, The Foundation has grown to more than 600,000 members and supporters and conducts many programs designed to better inform the public about the consequences of gun control.

Bloomberg as well as those goons he hired need to be prosecuted for this.

It won't happen. The ATF is pro-Bloomberg and will find a way to prevent his embarrassment. The evidence will disappear or they will lie under oath.

Do a Google search on "Institutionalized Perjury" sometime and see what pops up regarding ATF.

"Institutionalized Perjury"

From personal experience,I am sorry to say that I think this has become ingrained in many law enforcement agencies. The DEA seems to have a penchant for this as well. The conviction or agenda is what is important, the truth be damned. At one time I didn't believe the "scumbags" now I make sure I take a careful look at everything, I don't like to be blind sided "by the good guys" in a court room.

The gist of the "IP" piece is that ATF Agents were instructed by their Training Officers to perjure themselves with regard to the accuracy of ATF records of FFL and Class III license holders.

It was caught on videotape and widely circulated a few years back.

In short they were officially instructed to say that ATF records are 100% accurate 100% of the time in spite of mountains of evidence to the contrary.

Statistically that is impossible! Mathematically, no collection of data is 100% accurate. Who ever made or will make those statements is an arse! All you need to do is put an actuary on the stand to refute that testimony.

If Jackson was a truly good man and a Constitutionalist, he would not need to withdraw from this fiasco; he would not have been involved in the first place.
