The really significant aspect of this business is what the media is carefully avoiding, and one that the right should continue to harp on and exploit for a good while to come.
These is nothing unique (in the Democratic party) about this woman and her attitude/beliefs. Thus the point is not so much that she said what she said, it is that Edwards hired her AND kept her on after it. The fact that he did not castigate her publicly and fire her is extremely telling.
It tells me who Edwards considers his base and does not wish to offend.
