Romney Criticized For Honoring Ford (Henry Ford's Antisemitism)

WASHINGTON - Republican Mitt Romney's choice of a museum honoring auto pioneer Henry Ford as the site of his presidential announcement was strongly criticized Monday by Jewish Democrats, who noted Ford's history of anti-Semitism.

The former Massachusetts governor, who is scheduled to formally launch his presidential candidacy from the Henry Ford Museum in Detroit on Tuesday, was taken to task by The National Jewish Democratic Council.

The council "is deeply troubled by Governor Romney's choice of locations to announce his Presidential campaign," executive director Ira Forman said in a statement.

"Romney has been traveling the country talking about inclusiveness and understanding of people from all walks of life," Forman said. "Yet he chooses to kick (off) his presidential campaign on the former estate of a well-known and outspoken anti-Semite and xenophobe."

Forman said Romney's "embrace of Henry Ford and association of Ford's legacy with his presidential campaign raises serious questions about either the sincerity of Romney's words or his understanding of basic American history."

Ford was bestowed with the Grand Service Cross of the Supreme Order of the German Eagle by Adolph Hitler

Eric Fehrnstrom, a spokesman for Romney, said the candidate will go ahead with his announcement as planned.

"Governor Romney believes our country needs to put innovation at the forefront if we are to ensure a stronger, safer and more prosperous America," Fehrnstrom said. "The Ford Museum embodies that bold, innovative spirit."

Fehrnstrom noted that other political leaders have praised Ford in the past, including former President Bill Clinton.

It's often discussed here in the Detroit area - someone is always coming out with a new book on the topic and hyping on the airwaves and local radio.

But trust me, this action has more to with the fact the overwhelming percent of significant Jewish in the area are DEMOCRATS.  It has less to with anti-Semitism and more to do with anti-Bush and republicans at large.

The Henry Ford Museum and Greenfield Village is an incredible place, it is worth a summer trip to visit.

(Rosa Parks' Bus)

This month they're celebrating 'Black History Month' so this whining about the museum location are just dems beating a dead horse.

I got married at the Martha Marry Chapel. A chapel built by Henry Ford at the Wayside Inn in Sudbury Mass. According to the AP, I guess this makes me a jew-hating anti-semite.

Hey, business is business. I guess water seeks it's own level, but I really don't see this as anything more than Romney's dad was Governor of Michigan, wasn't he? Mitt was raised there, I guess.

Regardless of what Henry Ford was, a lot a great Americans worked there and turned out the cars that sat in most garages and the tractors that plowed a whole lot of fields. I'll never forget my 1964 Mustang -- burgundy with black leather interior. Man! I was hot (or so I thought) and Wilson Picket sang my favorite song, "Mustang Sally". I don't think it gets much better than that -- cruising along with my long blonde hair blowing in the breeze, loving life and have mine still in front of me.

Ford is in trouble and if Romney can get our assembly line jobs back on track and we can become a power house again, I wouldn't be crying big crocodile tears over our come back. I've been worried about the American worker for a long time -- a long, long time. I've been uneasy about this move to global economies that have hurt our families and the abilities of men and women to support them. I'm sure I'll get flamed for saying that, but it's been a burden on my heart for some time -- just me.

People need to stop excusing Ford's notable anti-semitism by saying that everybody else held the same ideas.

How about this little piece of hate filled book that can rival the "Protocols Of Zion": http://www.biblebelievers.org.au/intern_jew.htm

Henry Ford was clearly an anti-semite of the highest order. People can voice their opinions all they want, but please let's not start erecting museums in honour of anti-semitic bigots.

Read some more: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Henry_Ford
Under Antisemitism and The Dearborn Independent.

"The only statement I care to make about the Protocols (Of Zion) is that they fit in with what is going on".
Henry Ford Sr., Feb. 1921, New York World

"Anyone get the sense the MSM has hand-picked our candidate?"

Yes it like slowly herding the people into one direction. I would add "candidates" as the media is highlighting both Democrats(Obama) as well as Republicans.

I noticed this trend when McCain was getting such favorable reviews, most notivcably from Hard Ball Matthews.

I knew then something was rotten in McCains background and the media was just waiting until McCains nomination to pounce upon him.

This proves that the MSM believes Romney is a conservative...

You are sooo funny!!!

The fact that you have to even say "This proves that the MSM believes Romney is a conservative is absolutely hilarious!

Okay. Minus obvious exceptions that exist, if you give the MSM a "candidate profile" test where (a) the MSM has to guess whether the candidate is conservative or liberal; and (b) you give them hints & clues about their profile w/out actually telling them who they are...

Pray tell, if one such "clue" is "Mormon," is the MSM likely to guess that such candidate is a (a) "conservative" or (b) "liberal?" [Jeopardy music is running]

The Jeopardy answer: What is Mormon from a socio-political perspective?

In any normal circles, minus a few liberal Mormons in DC, even the MSM could take a name-blind test and conclude that yes, we would expect the MSM to render any LDS candidate as being a likely "conservative."

That's why you're so funny. Anytime somebody has to emphasize what would be obvious in other contexts shows that even you recognize why his conservative credentials have come into doubt.

Finally, if you know the MSM well enough, it doesn't mean that McCain & Romney are conservatives, at all. It just means that some folks are to the right of Rudy. Believe me, you can be to the right of Rudy and be to the left of a whole flock of candidates!

If Romney had been at Mt. Rushmore, the MSM would have certainly brought up that the artist who carved it, Gutzem Borglum, also carved Stone Mountain which is a tribute to slave holding Southern Civil War generals.

...The council "is deeply troubled by Governor Romney's choice of locations to announce his presidential campaign," executive director Ira Forman said in a statement."

This "council" and Ira Forman are part of the Democrat party. They issued a press release and AP picked it up as a "news" story. Unbelievable!

Mark Levin, who is a Jew himself, found this to be offensive and said so on his Nationally syndicated talk show tonight. Like some of the other commentators, he brought up Jimmy Carter's antisemitism and Hillary's embrace of Mrs Arafat.

I hope Mitt takes the nomination and teaches these disgusting Democrats a lesson.

The council "is deeply troubled by Governor Romney's choice of locations to announce his Presidential campaign," executive director Ira Forman said in a statement.

Note to Ira Forman: I'll start caring the second that you and your Democrat buddies give back every penny that left wing groups have ever received from the Ford Foundation since it was founded in 1936. That figure is currently in the billions of dollars.

Justin Hart, over at MyManMitt.com, posted a response to the pathetic criticism of Romney from the Dems in the National Jewish Democratic Council.

Note the last paragraphs (my emphasis added) exposing the hypocrisy of the Dems regarding who they choose to criticize for honoring Henry Ford.

Romney, Ford, and Edison: Jennifer Rubin -- "Time to do your homework!"

You may have seen the absurdly political hit-piece by the National Jewish Democratic Council on Mitt Romney this week. Serious commentators like Jonah Goldberg have made some appropriate comments but everyone admits the NJDC was out to purposely harm Romney a day before his announcement for the Presidential race.

Not to be outdone, Jennifer Rubin, writing for ABCNews online, levels her sites at Romney and the entire GOP and asks "why don't more Jewish people vote Republican?" She concludes:

In short, the Republicans are not just our kind of people, many Jews say. They don't sound like us, they don't talk like us and they don't understand us. This is an absurd channeling of all American Jews. But she's not done yet with fictional hypotheticals:

Indeed, the incident may say something not only about Romney but about the GOP's problem with Jews. In his boatload of advisers, Romney apparently did not have anyone to say, "You know, a lot of Jews really hate Ford, and it might mess up your message. Let's try Edison's lab to make a point about American innovation.

Lucky for Romney he wouldn't have had to change venues at all. You see Jen, Edison's Lab was actually taken down and moved to a museum.

The Henry Ford Museum!

Of course, there was plenty of precedent for the Ford Museum. George Bush Sr. and Robert Dole both held campaign events at the museum. Even Rudy Giuliani appeared there at a 2006 fundraiser.

Perhaps Jennifer took issue with this excerpt from Romney's speech:

"Henry Ford - a small entrepreneur - once said that the best Americans were those with 'an infinite capacity to not know what can't be done.' We honor today those kinds of Americans, testament to the power of enterprise and the strength of the human spirit."

Ooops... my mistake - that wasn't Mitt it was Bill Clinton in 1999.
