Obama: Why I’m Running

To chants of "Obama! Obama!," he told the crowd: "It was here, in Springfield, where North, South, East and West come together that I was reminded of the essential decency of the American people -- where I came to believe that through this decency, we can build a more hopeful America."

If the 45-year-old Obama were elected, he would become the nation's first African-American president. "And that is why, in the shadow of the Old State Capitol, where Lincoln once called on a divided house to stand together, where common hopes and common dreams still live, I stand before you today to announce my candidacy for president of the United States of America."

Obama told the crowd he would tackle problems like poor schools, economic hardships and oil dependence, saying a "failure of leadership" is to blame for not meeting the nation's challenges. He also implored the crowd to demand that there be "universal health care in America by the end of the president's first term."

He called the Iraq war a "tragic mistake" and said, "It's time to admit that no amount of American lives can resolve the political disagreement that lies at the heart of someone else's civil war. That's why I have a plan that will bring our combat troops home by March of 2008.

I have thought it was pretty obvious that it was going to be an Hilary/Obama ticket. Hilary as prez, so that in 8 years, Obama is ready to take over.

On Fox & Friends this morning they showed a clip of Obama in Springfield and their reporter in Washington compared Obama to "another junior senator from Illinois." Wrong--Lincoln lost his bid to become senator.

The MSMs know nothing, but it doesn't matter because they figure all of us are as clueless as sheep. Accuracy is no longer important. Look at all the nitwits that vote RAT. Most of them have trouble finding the state they reside in on a map. A promise of free stuff and hate toward the "haves" drive their vote.

Meanwhile the other elected black politician from Chicago, Governor Deval Patrick of Massachusetts, refused to sign a boiler-plate resolution honoring Reagan's birthday as "Ronald Reagan Day" in Massachusetts.

Obama is running because his handlers in Mecca told him that "now is the time". Otherwise he would remain in the Senate in sleeper cell mode.

I HAVE PLAN" every time he stepped to the mic...but NEVER uttered one word of what the plan entailed?

Not true. I heard it myself at a press conference. He had a plan to get a strategy. Yep, said it with a straight face and all the reporters nodded their heads at the wisdom. Of course, what that stategy would be was never discussed or asked about.

Way to go! Spread discouragement as fast as you can. Dig your own grave and jump right in! That's the spirit that got us across the plains: too many Indians, not enough water, mountains too high and too cold! Right on!!

I think that's the plan. Obama will still be able to run again even if Hillary loses.

Now THAT'S probably the truest thing I've heard in a long time. I hate to be prejudicial toward anyone, but knowing what we know about the Muslim religion and their extremists and what they are taught about "blending in to take over" etc..... I think he's a wolf in sheep's clothing. I hate to think what this nation will come to if he's elected P or VP. Scary thought. What's even MORE scary is the number of people in the US who would actually vote for him after all we went through with 911.

Sorry , I disagree. Richardson's
heritage is going to work against
him among many Democrats as well
as Republicans. The Illegals
don't have the majority of the
electorate....YET!

Scary indeed! This guy has my wife won over already just because Oprah likes him and gave him a powder puff interview. She thinks he's a Christian just because his wife is one. Even if he really is a Christian, do we have to take him at his word and trust him? There is way too much at stake to let the muslims take over the United States this easily.

very intelligent observation.....
There is way too much at stake to let the muslims take over the United States this easily.

but alas....there will be nothing but a whimper as 'we' surrender, and allow the U.S. to go into the dustbin of history, should this osama or hitlery be elected.

I would rather have Hillary in office than Obama. At least with her, any serious hostility toward our country would be met with the anger of the most scornful woman who ever walked the earth, once she realized what's happening.
