Jim Webb's whining sure doesn't help things improve

The "cut and run" Democrats are in full swing now by recently voting to "help" President Bush ["Senate panel rejects Bush's war strategy," Jan. 25].

They've passed a resolution that will be sent to the Senate for a full vote showing their angst against the recent increase in troop strength in Iraq.

These actions do not send a message of commitment to winning the war against terrorism, of which Iraq is one front. These are weak, politically correct attempts to thwart President Bush no matter the cost. The Democrats would rather lose Iraq in order to maintain power in Congress.

I love the canard offered by Sen. Biden after voting to send the resolution to the Senate floor. He said it was "not an attempt to embarrass the president. It's an attempt to save the president from making a significant mistake with regard to our policy in Iraq." Give me a break.

The boorish Sen. Webb tried to give an analogy after the State of the Union address using Gen. Eisenhower's comments during the Korean War. "'When comes the end?' asked the general, who had commanded our forces in Europe during World War II. And as soon as he became president, he brought the Korean War to an end."

What Sen. Webb failed to mention is that we are perilously close to war with North Korea, and that country has been an isolated rogue nation for 50 years.

If he really wants to see a failed policy, he needn't look any further than that one.

President Bush once said, "Hindsight alone is not wisdom and second-guessing is not a strategy."

Sen. Webb should offer up a reasonable plan that can succeed rather than whining and contributing to the demoralization of our troops and giving renewed hope to the enemy.

His name should be Senator Wig, not Webb. His hair looks ridiculous.

The Democrats are skunks. A non non-binding resolution is not a law. They should not be able to even put such a thing to a vote in the Congress because their job is not to pass pretend legislation.

As far as the Iraq war? Let our troops kill the enemy.

I hope, really hope, Webb is a one-term Senator. Six years of him ought to be enough for any thinking Virginian.

No... What he failed to mention is that Eisenhower brought the Korean War to an end by threatening to use the a-bomb.

I'd much rather Webb joined Johnson as soon as possible, and just keep off the Senate floor.

What's turning purple is Webb's face while he "holds his breath until the President listens to him".
