Look for him to get lots of support from elected office holders he's helped.
If those candidates were/are even remotely conservative, the ONLY reason he helped them is for payback now that he's running.

One your first point, it is still a year out, we don't know what the electoral field would look like. We have 12 Senators up in vulnerable states, and even if we hold those, we still need to win a few extra seats to regain the Senate.
A Rat in the WH is really bad ju ju, as GWB has shown the CINC has incredible latitude to act without congressional approval.

Congress created the gun control laws, not Rudy. Had the feds struck down city's gun bans and the Supremes properly ruled on the 2nd, Rudy wouldn't be in favor of gun control.
Those "career Republican Congressmen" you excoriate, at least MOST of them, voted to let this gun-grabbing law sunset.

MILLIONS upon MILLIONS of innocents murdered every year by leagl abortion, for YEARS upon YEARS, vs (horrifying and terrible enough as it is) thousands by terrorism.
Plus, RINO-rudy is the kind of gun-grabbing gun-control freak that JUST DOESN'T GET IT (or maybe, just doesn't care).
For instance, he peobably wouldn't even think that, perhaps, if the innocent people in, say, Darfur, were armed, organized and trained, and able to protect themseleves from their enemies which are supported by their own tyrannical government, then maybe, just maybe, the one-sided slaughter would STOP.
