Giuliani Strikes a Note With California GOP Testing the Waters, Former N.Y. Mayor Garners 4 Ovations
SACRAMENTO, Feb. 10 -- Rudolph W. Giuliani came west to learn whether his brand of Republican politics has a chance among party members significantly more conservative than himself. By the time he had received a fourth standing ovation Saturday at the California Republican Party convention, the answer seemed clear.
Equating the U.S. fight against terrorism with the Civil War and the Cold War, Giuliani told about 750 of his party's faithful that failure in Iraq would turn that country into a "massive headquarters for terrorism."
"Having had a job where I didn't have any choice but to make a decision," the former mayor of New York said, "prepares you as best you can be prepared to be the president of the United States."

When you have nothing to offer but lies, perpetuating those falsehoods is a never ending job.
And when it is impossible to build your guy up, tear down an icon instead to make him look bigger by comparision.
Btw, referring to someone as a "spammer" for posting Rudy`s real liberal record, is a cheap pot shot, with no bearing on the facts.
Read what I said again. You can't even read straight. I said in plain clear English that you are "not a spammer". Now you accuse me of calling you a spammer.
LOL! You are bizarre.
No. From the get-go you said "all" social issues and I disagreed with that.
The problem all along has been your unwillingness to accept Rudy`s entire liberal record on every major social issue
What? I initiated my comments on this thread listing what I feel are the most important social issues and how Rudy was liberal and wrong on those issue.
There is something seriously wrong with you.
What's really bizarre is how you keep running away from debating the issues of Rudy`s real political record. That should be the focus of your effort.
This is a keeper. I do read fine. I also can read between the lines very well. First off, you brought up the word "spammer", I didn't. And for what purpose? The implication is obvious. According to you, there was common ground between us in the past, and I was no "spammer" back then. You sly dog you. But today, common ground between us in question and so is my NOT being a "spammer" in question. Don't play word games with me.
Now, back to reality.
If you want to stay focused on the word "all", instead of focusing on the debate and acknowledging the facts of Rudy`s extremist record ---- his being in agreement with the major liberal Democrats of our time.... Hillary Clinton to Bill Clinton, John Kerry, Ted Kennedy, Chuck Schumer, Joe Lieberman and Algore ---- then we really don't have much else to say to each other. Now do we. LOL
bump.
Good for Rudy. If my pick (Hunter) doesn't make it thru the primaries, I would support Rudy. It's still early and I'm encouraged by the multiple prospects. They are all better than the ususal dem hand wringers.
Hunter/Coburn'08
Denethor was the Steward of the Kingdom of Gondor. Not the mayor. Not a big city.
Saruman was under the spell of Sauron. Denethor was weakened in his own quest for greatness.
But he was not under the spell of Sauron.
Have you read the books?
If you followed along you would have noted that we cleared all that up, NG was listed if the person served. And for your information I didnt call anyones world bizarro, Narses did. But thanks for the ping... :)
"More falsehoods from the Rudy camp about Reagan. Reagan never supported abortionists."
Reagan signed a 1967 law DECRIMINALIZING abortion.
Did he? YES or NO.
For instances of rape, incest and where the life of the mother is threatened. The majority pro-life position to this date.
"For instances of rape, incest and where the life of the mother is threatened"
Is an innocent life aware of those situations when it is snuffed out?
It is too late to gin up a candidate from nowhere who is an unknown.
This is rich. You support Rudy, who is in favor of abortion on demand - and you're lecturing a pro-lifer about exceptions regarding rape, incest and the life of the mother.
Is there no level of intellectual depravity to which the Rudy boosters will not descend? I'm beginning to think y'all are bottom feeders in a pit without a bottom.
"...that does seem to be the case, at the very least, they are naive and gullible." It is "naive" to conclude that someone with less than 1% support in the polls will not be elected president? That must be "naive" as defined in the Ultra Right Dictionary of the English Language.
In the real world such a view is realism at its most conclusive.
"...they want something akin to a genie/fairy godmother, who will instantly do exactly what they want, all by him/herself, with no regard to laws or the Constitution."
The Dead shall walk and the blind shall see.
"You support Rudy, who is in favor of abortion on demand - and you're lecturing a pro-lifer about exceptions regarding rape, incest and the life of the mother."
I am pro life.
Now maybe you can answer the question.
Yet you support Rudy.
Now maybe you can answer the question.
I don't debate weasels. You are in no position to interrogate anyone's pro-life positions as long as you support Rudy.
