Giuliani Strikes a Note With California GOP Testing the Waters, Former N.Y. Mayor Garners 4 Ovations
SACRAMENTO, Feb. 10 -- Rudolph W. Giuliani came west to learn whether his brand of Republican politics has a chance among party members significantly more conservative than himself. By the time he had received a fourth standing ovation Saturday at the California Republican Party convention, the answer seemed clear.
Equating the U.S. fight against terrorism with the Civil War and the Cold War, Giuliani told about 750 of his party's faithful that failure in Iraq would turn that country into a "massive headquarters for terrorism."
"Having had a job where I didn't have any choice but to make a decision," the former mayor of New York said, "prepares you as best you can be prepared to be the president of the United States."

I just know the witches war room is up and running, has never shut down, these are evil people.
There is alot of good stuff here beyond the politics, too!
Yeah, and if you look hard enough, you'll see blood dripping from the fangs at the ends of his mouth. Get real. Rudy will have no more impact on abortion than the other post-Roe vs Wade Presidents.
He must have found much in common with Los Angeles Mayor Antonio MECHAraigosa, who also enjoys his big illegal alien sanctuary city.
Rudy as president won't protect our borders and our soveriegnty any better than the current Mexican president in the White House.
"You want to CHANGE abortion, then have your Congressman introduce legislation to ban it through a Constitutional Amendment, or support the GOP candidate who has the money, leadership, record, and said he'll support strict constructionists who'll overturn that wretched decision."
Rudy Guiliani previously stated that he viewed Ruth Bader Ginsburg as a "model" justice. Now, recently, facing the GOP primary, he has been offering praise for Scalia and Thomas. But I have no confidence that he will follow through on appointing strict constructionists when he gets into office.
Furthermore, if you look into his record of appointing officials in New York, it's disappointing to say the least.
"If Rudy wins the primary I hope you will vote for him. I know I will vote for the party's nominee whoever it turns out to be."
The alternative will likely be 8 years of Hillary followed by 8 years of Obama. Sadly too many conservatives are not loyal to the party.
Even Santorum was ripped on here. It's unbelievable.
Wrong. Again. But you must be used to that by now.
Mere congressamn vs. mere mayor
Thanks, Tx. I'm likely to be persona non-grata at the Levin Lounge, but I am working at every level for Rudy, financially and politically within my district.
This nation is worth it. It's the Hugh Hewitt Maxim: support the most conservative candidate who can win.
I will vote for the Republican Nominee, regardless. Rest assured. I swear on my mother's Bible.
What the Hell did incumbent GOP Congressmen running for President do to end abortion.
Lets see now. After three years as Governor, California remains a high taxed socialist hellhole. After eight years as Mayor, NYCity remained a high taxed socialist hellhole.
Now Rudy wants to "Arnoldize" the good old USA!
Not gonna happen Rudy!
New York City is bigger than all but a half-dozen states.
"He must have found much in common with Los Angeles Mayor Antonio MECHAraigosa, who also enjoys his big illegal alien sanctuary city."
I have said it before...
I'd like nothing more than for all these open-borders country-club RINOs to be forced to spend a few days in Santa Ana, Van Nuys, or any of the other formerly middle-class Southern California communities that have been overrun by illegals.
Before anybody votes for Rudy (or McCain, for that matter), they should make the trip as that's the future of their own neighborhoods if we don't secure those borders soon.
"Rudy loves East Coast liberal positions"
Here's a quote for you, and I think it reflects the feelings of many of us here and across the country.
"I'm a Christian, and his views on a lot of social issues are to the left of mine," said Larry Stirling, a retired state superior court judge from San Diego. "But if you have to make a trade-off, I'll make the trade-off for Giuliani. He's been through a trial by fire. He's got gravitas. The first thing a president has to do is protect us. The rest is a secondary consideration."
This guy hit the nail right on the head.
The NUMBER ONE issue is the War on Islamic Fascism.
All else is secondary.
Does he now? Besides, Republican Senators help confirm Ginsburg. Where was conservative outrage then?
"The NUMBER ONE issue is the War on Islamic Fascism. All else is secondary."
Not to me. I won't sell out the unborn children of our country for anything.
LOL, I'll tell you what he didn't do. He did NOT sue gun manufacturers. He did not get a judge to help him avoid the draft. He did NOT wear a dress and pantyhose to raise money from queers. He did NOT dump wife numbers one and two or carry on a serial public adultery.
Posted on the same time that JimRob has this for a FR poll.
Let's just say that Hillary (or someone equally as vile) gets the Democrat nomination and a pro-life, anti-gay marriage, pro-gun, pro-defense, pro-borders, pro-small government, pro-low taxes, peace through superior firepower patriot gets the Republican nod. Who would you vote for in the general?
