Is this an area with a lot of muslims?
I was on Sal a couple of weeks before these murders and bought a plot of land there, and I did check out the muslim situation. There is a small group who are mostly from the african mainland, but they are active collecting funds from the many african artesanal shops and are trying to bring in local people. The largest electrical appliance wholesale/ retail merchants claim to be arab, but i suspect they are Pakistans and probably from Manchester England.
