You're missing that McCain's supposed liberalism mostly comes from his rhetoric, which is critical of some conservative heros. His voting record is pretty good.
And Hunter's conservativism is exaggerated, i.e. he's anti-free-trade.
Hunter's biggest problem is his speaking ability. He is about as exciting to watch as a National Geographic special on the mating habits of worms.
Unfettered globalist free trade may be a Republican ideal (and a Democrat ideal), but it certainly is not a conservative one
