Border agents who testified against convicted co-workers will be fired
Men who were at scene of shooting terminated for changing their stories
by Sara A. Carter
Two Border Patrol agents who testified against two co-workers convicted of shooting a drug smuggler will be fired for changing their stories about events surrounding the shooting, according to documents obtained by the Daily Bulletin.
Sources inside the Border Patrol also say Oscar Juarez, a third agent who testified against Border Patrol agents Ignacio Ramos and Jose Alonso Compean, resigned from the agency last month shortly before he was to be fired.
All three agents gave sworn testimony against Ramos and Compean for the U.S. Attorney's Office, which successfully prosecuted the shooting case in March. The agents were given immunity in exchange for their testimony despite changing their accounts of the incident several
"When you give deals to witnesses like immunity, the government usually gets the testimony (it wants)," said Rep. Ted Poe, R-Texas, a former judge and prosecutor. "This case is a perfect example."

Is there any evidence proving that these guys shot the Criminal Illegal Alien? They shot at him and did not think that they had actually scored. The bullet can't be traced to the guns that the Border patrol used. He could have been shot by anybody using any of 4 different kinds of guns. He was not shot in the back. He was shot in the side of his buttocks. He could have been turning to shoot at the BP if they did connect.
You have TWO agencies. Not one. This reeks of conspiracy. Who do they both report to? The top.
Bush now has to get directly involved since this scandal crosses departmental lines. And Justice needs to recuse itself as well, since they are involved.

I really wish the online and paper versions would share the same titles. Regardless, I apologize for my carelessness in checking that out. I'll be more careful in the future to watch for that.
My gawd, the government has now been caught lying or engaging in major malfeasance at least FOUR times in this matter, and you're worried about "manipulation?"
You have some seriously misguided priorities.
You have made your position clear. At this point I do not agree based on what I have read in the press.
As always I reserve the right to change my mind, but there is no point in arguing about it right now.
Have a terrific day.
The reporting has been across multiple media outlets and also from the BP union AND from GOP Congressmen.
Try your next attempt at spinning this away. It ain't gonna work.
And I was a skeptic for the longest time.
I believe in assisting people who have shown me the initiative to better their lives.
The governments...both federal and state know full well the immigration laws in this country are broken. They treat the matter like they enforce the 55 mph speed limit on the turnpike. They don't.
I feel I am doing my part to beautify our country.
Wouldn't you want more women walking around looking like this? ;^)
AMEN! Applause!
Let's call it a day.
I respect all that you've said. You say it well.
I will admit that I could get "hysterical" without much help on this issue. With every passing day bringing out more lies and more outrage, the truth of it all had better see the light of day....soon.
Say what? The agencies in question have stalled GOP CONGRESSIONAL REQUESTS for information. They are not trying to get to the bottom of this, they are having the truth pulled from their mouths like a bad tooth.
But this case has become a flash point in the next Presidential election, and especially the GOP primaries.
Quite frankly, since Bush is willing to sign a shamnesty bill with help from the new Dem majority in Congress, methinks he doesn't give a rat's a** about the GOP's chances in the next election. Why would this case be different?
Think what you will, but I have changed my opinion when additional information comes to light.
FOUR LIES. In just a few days. THAT IS A VERY BAD TREND.
That might just be the reason for this little law enforcement drama.
National Guard troops without bullets, and BP agents without motivation.
Ted Poe is a judge from the Houston area. He and Rep. Culberson have been all over this for a while. They are hoping to fund the sheriff's depts along the border to deal with the border influx. The sheriffs he has talked to say they can stop it in about 2 weeks with the proper equipment.
We have some good guys working on this for us. Pray for them.
"Therefore the Bush administration is personally trying to make sure these guys get killed to protect their own crookedness."
I call it crooked when you solicit false testimony to jail people. And yes... these people work for Bush. If we can see what's going on, why can't he?
I wonder who bankrolled Sylvester Reyes' Congressional campaign and how deep his fingers go into this border corruption?
OH! But don't forget his ditty about "doing everything that can be done to protect the citizens of this country".
Oh yeah. Except the MOST elementary security measure that is. We protect Iraq's borders better than we do our own. That, IMO, is criminal.
