Well, they got 6 feet of snow now! Ironically, here in the northern mid west, it's cold, but there isn't much snow at all, it's too cold to snow. Frozen and dead batteries, square tires, frozen hydraulic clutches and shocks in the morning are a problem though.
With lake effect snow, it's never too cold to snow. Great Lakes, Salt Lake, Tahoe. All you need is cold wind across the open water. It picks up the moisture and when the air slows and rised over land, it snows. As long as the wind blows and the lake is open, it snows and snows and snows. The temp doesn't matter, whether it's 30 or -30.
I may have gotten 6 inches of snow all winter here in southern IN. Would be just as happy if I had not gotten any. Have seen times we got 2 or 3 feet of snow in late Feb. or early March. Not too late yet for us to get plenty of snow.
