Undoing Obama: Inside the Coming Effort to Dismantle A Candidate
The Politico ^ | 02-09-07 | Mike Allen

Barack Obama’s free ride is ending.

The charismatic Illinois senator has enjoyed a lifetime of hagiography, starting with an 800-word story in The New York Times the day after his election as the first black president of the Harvard Law Review.

Now, Obama’s about to endure a going-over that would make a proctologist blush. Why has he sometimes said his first name is Arabic, and other times Swahili? Why did he make up names in his first book, as the introduction acknowledges? Why did he say two years ago that he would “absolutely” serve out his Senate term, which ends in 2011, and that the idea of him running for president this cycle was “silly” and hype “that’s been a little overblown”?

In interviews, strategists in both parties pointed to four big vulnerabilities: Obama’s inexperience, the thinness of his policy record, his frank liberalism in a time when the party needs centrist voters and the wealth of targets that are provided by the personal recollections in his first book, from past drug use to conversations that cannot be documented.

None of this stuff matters to his supporters. Believe me, I've already encountered enough of them.

He's black so he will get a free ride from racist liberals who secretly think "Those people ALL do that," a sentiment they would never, ever express out loud.

Governors get elected. Not senators or city mayors.

Let's keep it that way.

Ah yes, the rising spittlegeist inspired by the clintonista goon squad ... destroy a man's reputation under the guise of exploring the negatives others might bring.

He's already using the race card, what a surprise.

Oh wait, he's a dumb-o-crat so it's expected.

Not a surprise afterall.

I disagree.

Most of Obama's supporters know very little about him, and this sort of info will definitely turn off a large percentage of them.

What's the point- Hillary is destroying him in the polls. Seems to me like conservatives are shooting at the wrong enemy- Hillary Hussein Clinton is the one we need to worry about. Obama is relevant to 2012 maybe, but not this time- not with Hillary's machine in place.

I think as long as he keeps making statements like "If you look like an African-American you'll be treated like one", he won't need anyone else to sink him. Was that a huge slap at blacks or just an incredibly stupid comment?

Agreed. There is a huge difference between being the chief executive of a state and being a senator in a state with a huge Democratic voting contingent.

The unintended consequence of his candidacy is a leftward lurch for the Democratic presidential hopefuls which bodes well for Republican candidates.

"Huge slap at blacks and/or just an incredibly stupid comment?"

Both. He's just smart enough to make some really dumb ass moves or statements. Classic neophyte.

The media will NOT go after him. They are too invested in his candidacy and they agree with his far left policy views.
A PRESIDENT Obama would put the country in great danger from Islamic terror. He would gut the Patriot Act and cease NSA monitoring of calls and e-mails made by foreign terrorists to their contacts here. He would end renditions. He would extend full US citizen equivalent legal guarantees to the foreign terrorists held at Guantanamo, an act that would lead to nearly all being freed almost immediately. Most incredible of all, he opposes close State Department vetting of visa applicants from Muslim countries known to spawn terrorists, having called such close scrutiny (November 2005)quot;profiling." Obama's a naive rookie who believes--see his first book-- that America is "arrogant and ignorant" in foreign affairs. Make no mistake: his election would put millions of Americans in even more danger than we are now.
