Most of the states - including California - are now too dependent on revenues from the settlements made with the tobacco companies to go for this. They have in fact become partners with Big Tobacco. Waxman's just grandstanding for his health nazi base.

Yep, exactly. Tobacco will never be banned because politicians don't have the guts to and the tobacco black market will make the Drug War look tame by comparison.

Iowa is just about to implement a $1.00 a pack tax. The Democrats have all the sheeple convinced this will bring in huge amounts of revenue with which they can cure all of mans' ills. At the same time, it will prevent people from smoking.
