This will save a lot less energy in a cold climate than the regulator guys think it will. Incandescent bulbs are very efficient electric heaters. If the CF bulbs save people money, they'll switch voluntarily. The warmer the climate, the more you stand to save.

Very true. You'll save a bit if you heat with oil or gas because electricity is the most expensive way to heat a home. If you have electric heat it's pretty much a wash in wintertime but you'll save a bundle in the summer, not only by cutting the power needed for light but also by reducing the load on the A/C.

You know those bulbs do not last that long and they sizzle when they die!
Something I did not know until I read about it on another forum one night my bulbs started smoking of and on and than later it just died!
Is that safe?
