She said that TV reporters in the US were fired for commenting about the US war

A reporter was fired for commenting about the war?

When?

I think she's parroting Putin's statement in a meeting with Bush , around the time that Rather finally "resigned" from CBS. Bush set him straight on rights of the press and limitations of US government in dealing with press and reporters.

She must have not heard or understood the rebuttal. Or maybe she did, she lives and works in Hollywood, where praising US and slamming Cuba would get you blacklisted from juicy lucrative movies. By most standards, comparing to statements of Sean Penn, Tim Robbins, William Robbins, Susan Sarandon et al, this was pretty mild and tame comment. Just enough not to get oneself in trouble with Hollywood commie set.
