An American medical examiner hired by the family, Cyril Wecht, said he had methadone and two antidepressants in his system when he died. Low levels of the three drugs interacted to cause an accidental death, Wecht said.

Every time I've ever caught her on the idiotbox she seemed high as a kite.
Never cared for her antics, but this is sad, nonetheless. She had a messed up life. The inmates at DU are having fits over this. One poster said the best and brightest die young, referring to Smith. Another compared her talents to Marilyn Monroe. Another called her the "peoples princess." Others are pissed off because this is diverting news from Bush`s "murdering our troops in Iraq." And others think Bush had a role in Smith`s death.
I feel very sorry for her.
I hope Howard K Stern get absolutely nothing out of this.

The funny thing is that I really don't equate her with Marilyn Monroe other than the Playboy centerfold.
It is probably the difference of the times but Monroe had the wink-wink sexiness that lured men in and excited their fantasies while remaining very feminine. By the 1990s, Smith had to be more like Madonna than Marilyn to get the attention she craved. What Marilyn did wouldn't get much attention today - not with all the porn on the internet and the unsubtle sexuality of our modern times.

Why didn't she just tell the truth about the real father of her baby? The real father seemed like a decent guy who wanted to help take care of her. The phony "father" Howard Stern seemed like a sleazy jackass.
Maybe now she can be happily reunited with her "husband" in heaven. What a waste of humanity.
