I'd guess that is why he's using a low performance vehicle. If you can match max flow to max throttle WITHOUT draining the battery, you're all set. The accelerator is "fly by wire", doing no more than any other potentiometer.
I have done no math on this. The alternator would need to be beefy, but diminishing returns would be an issue there. There are not a lot of ponies to play with in a 1.9 four banger.
