I don't consider these lefties "Jewish". Sometimes they identify themsevles as such just to check off a box on the questionnaire. The bottom line is that this "new anti-Semitism" is suspiciously like the Old Anti-Semitism: hatred and ignorance masked in political ideology.
Right you are. Jinos, I love it.
That is a straw-man argument. Shareholders do not make decisions about corporate policy, except in theory. Executives make these decisions, so if ethnicity/political outlet matters, it's their's that counts.
Most shareholders are concerned only with the financial return of their stocks and pay no attention whatsoever to the political or social implications of their corporations' actions.
Unfortunately, there are many of them. Real Jews marry Jews and raise their children to practice Judaism and revere it. And they don't make movies attacking devout Christians or state that "the creation of Israel was a mistake" as the awful Tony Kushner has stated, what with his being a self-loathing lefty thug. (And I will put Richard Cohen of the Washington Post in that category also.)
Julie, I think you responded to the wrong post. I didn't say anything about the NY Times specifically.
I read the words "left leaning" and of course, my first thought was of the NY Times - but there is so much competition for that title.
???
This is a major player in the rise of anti Semitism wherever there are... Muslims.
My point was that most stockholders are completely uninvolved in company policy, with most unaware of what it might be, and caring even less. All they are interested in is return on investment. I thought this was common sense.
I moved from this to the assumption that if corporations have ethnically-based policies these are generated by those actually controlling the corporations, the officers. IF we insist that ethnicity is relevant, surely the relevant ethnicity is that of the officers, not the stockholders.
Do you disagree?
BTW, I have no idea what the ethnic background of the officers of media corporations may be, and I care even less. It is stupid to claim that corporations cannot be influenced by such considerations just because the ownership of their stock is diverse.
That's much like the idiots claiming that the media and the news outlets are all controlled by the right wing because they are owned by large corporations, which in their mind are by definition rightist.
That is a stunningly obvious and stunningly brilliant observation.
That's true for all American leftists. Witness their treachery in the face of the Islamic savage. Their commitment to leftism and anti-Western civilization trumps any commitment to America.
Very well said.
Who gives a rat's patootie what they say? Their following is infinitesimal.
I agree.
But they preface their articles and columns with "writing as a Jew [in Name Only] I think that . . . blah blah blah". What a joke!
They need to change that to; Writing as a commie pinko American hating scumbag who happens to be jewish, bla, bla, bla
Go onto Jewish World Review and read Caroline Glick's article - and yes, she mentions Tony Kushner, Tony Judt, Richard Cohen, et al, who identify themselves as "Jews" although they are fiercely anti Israel and yes, beyond self hating. You are correct.
