What is amazing to me is that some TV exec does not figure out that if it played it straight down the middle or went slightly right it would do much better in the ratings. Why none of the major networks haven't offer up big money for Brit Hume amazes me. I know they have a political bent but you would think one of the three would lookout for commercial interests also.

Absolutely. The entire point of any network or station paying for the Nielsen ratings system is to figure out how much they can get away with charging for ad time.

I'm embarassed to say I just 'got' your post. I saw it earlier, didn't understand it, thought you were quoting another poster & had just misposted to my name. Flash forward oh, about 8 hours, I'm standing in the kitchen chopping olives for a salad & BAM! Out of the blue I had the sudden realization, gestalt-style, of what you meant.
