Add that to the list with global cooling and the coming Ice Age talked about in the late 70s. I argued that fallacy with a uber liberal the other week. I told him that in the 70's, all we heard about was global cooling. Nothing I said would make him change his mind. He said the DBM does not lie and believes everything they say.
He insists we have global warming because of exhaust emissions and other man-made pollution. Of course, he watched Algore's documentary and believes every word in it and also believes 9/11 was an inside job. He even has a bumper sticker saying the same.

I remember well both the global cooling and acid rain scares. There for a while the term "global climate change" came into vogue as the enviros weren't really certain what was going on, all they knew was that it was really bad and all those other pesky human types were responsible. If we could just get rid of a few billion folks (I remember Ted Turner as being a big proponent) things would just be peachy.
Then a few years back cattle production came under attack as all those supposedly inefficient gassy bovines were responsible for greenhouse gas emissions. If only everybody would just start eating tofu, and besides beef production was just so inhumane.
Just recently I found out that the albuterol inhalers that two of my sons use for asthma have quadrupled in price due to the fact that the new inhalers have to contain an environmentally friendly propellant. At Sam's they've gone from $8 to over $30 for the new inhalers. Given that the NOAA says that over 97% of all CO2 emissions are from natural sources these new inhalers oughta solve the problem.
And finally, I see that China who's going to overtake the US in CO2 emissions by the end of the decade says it's up to the more developed nations to tackle the issue. Somehow I get the inkling they're going to be a little more difficult to convince about the seriousness of the issue.
