She needs to take a stress pill and think things over. I'm no psychiatrist, but I do teach a class for families with loved ones suffering with brain disorders. If I was going to hazard an educated guess I'd say the poor woman suffered a Psychotic break, possibly as a prelude to or onset of Schizophrenia. Brain disorders can affect anyone and at any time of life. My aunt on my mothers side was similarly her HS class valedictorian and graduated with honors from college. Two years later she suffered a breakdown and spent the rest of her life in and out of institutions. If that is what happened to this woman, while she needs to be accountable, she will also need help. Having treated a few hundred of people with these signs, my guess is schizophrenia, paranoid type.

Jag make a damn good point!
Often a high achiever will suffer an overload in the mind. These people need to be trained to recognize the symptoms and to back off, take a break, go fishing, etc.
I was lucky enough to recognize some if not all the symptoms and learned to back off. This is a result of being hard-of-hearing, a blind eye, a speech impedement, and yet to be able to overcome all of that to excel at a number of challenges such getting a pilot's license, electrical engineering, and raise a family.
You all got to smell the roses once in a while! You only have one life!

I know a woman who became bipolar in mid life and after some very bizarre behavior she was found huddling naked and shivering under a bridge. She takes medicate now and is doing well.

When I think of schizophrenia I think of a very disorganized person, it took a very orangized person to plan out wearing of a diaper and the road trip to Orlando. NASA stated today that there were NO signs of any problems with her work. I am more inclined to think she was planning to murder her victim then schizophrenia.
