The strange saga of Lisa Marie Nowak, a NASA astronaut who drove 900 miles from Texas to Florida, wearing diapers, to confront the woman she thought was romancing the astronaut she loved, sounds like science fiction. Not only is it true, but at least some psychologists say it makes a kind of weird sense.
"This is love gone wrong," says Dr. Louann Brizendine, author of "The Female Brain" and director of the Women's Mood and Hormone Clinic at UCSF. "This is Glenn Close in 'Fatal Attraction.' "
Wearing the adult diapers so she wouldn't have to stop for bathroom breaks, the married mother of three made the drive from Houston on Monday morning to meet Colleen Shipman at the Orlando airport. There Nowak confronted Shipman, who is stationed at an Air Force base in Florida, and when she wouldn't open her car door but rolled down her window a crack, Nowak doused the interior with pepper spray.
Shipman immediately called police, and Nowak was apprehended before she was able to do anything more. She must have had quite a plan, because she was also carrying a knife, rubber tubing, a BB gun and a steel mallet.
Nowak, who flew on the space shuttle Discovery in July, insisted that she just "wanted to talk"...

Not to mention a couple of good country-western tunes.
Looking at her before and after pictures, she almost looks like a crystal meth addict.
Been there, done that, the rash was horrible.
Now people think the young chick is some kind of home-wrecker.
"As a group," Kanas says, "astronauts are very detail-oriented, accomplished people."
So apparently Nowak may have thought she was simply putting together a logical, thoughtful plan. Instead, she has provided us with an important lesson.
Why a CO2 operated BB gun? Being a Navy Captain, she shoiuld have been able to get something with a bit more punch, like a 9 mm.
"Heaven has no rage like love to hatred turned
Nor hell a fury like a woman scorned."
NASA damage control portral is a psychological mess. Permanently spaced out Naval Officer.
I'm crazy in love and I don't have any of these impulses. UGH!!! And if I did, i'd get dumped on my butt by my love, and rightly so! This isn't "love" it's sickness.
I probably should think what she was willing to do to the other woman was the worst part, but no, I think the adult diaper was the worst. ack!
"You can go for days without sleep, you e-mail them constantly, you are always on the phone, you can't get enough of them. Even Freud called it a lovely state of psychosis."
Trust me, you don't want to get worked up this much in a relationship and you don't want a partner who would get themselves worked up into such a state. It's a psychosis period.
My husband and I wondered that, ourselves. She's got that tweaker look.
By the way, giggety giggety! ;-)

Allllll Riiiiiiigghhttt!
Finally, Greta gets to pimp a new tragedy TV story.
It is hard to believe that someone with the highest education, best training in the world, and achievement hardly anyone else anywhere could come by, would throw it all away in such a dumb scheme. If this person took even part of the time on the long drive to think about the end result, she would have turned around and gone home. How tragic our MSM has nothing more to do than follow this 24/7!
She made lists of everything she needed for her "plan" - cop reports found her checklists along with the items in her bags- it would be fascinating to know exactly what it was she was planning to do. Pepper spray, bucknife and trash bags- obvious - BB gun OK, but why not the real deal? - but how does a murderer plan to use 3 feet of rubber tubing?
I can only imagine the thoughts of the original Mercury astronauts (those still with us, and those who have passed on) as they survey this godawful wreckage.
Back when they had "the Right Stuff" ?
Yeah, exactly. :(
When I read that, I thought of this:
Mrs. Clinton, who was First Lady in the 1990's, insisted that she just "wanted to talk". "Let the conversation begin", said Mrs. Clinton.
