WASHINGTON, Jan. 29 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- Newt Gingrich has indicated that running for president would now be "last resort" but that hasn't stopped a new nationwide effort from forming to urge him to run for the presidency.
"Today, we are launching a major nationwide grassroots presidential draft effort, in the spirit of Reagan and Goldwater, to urge Newt Gingrich to run for the Republican Presidential nomination," said campaign founder David W. Kralik.
The "Draft Newt" effort will take advantage of the latest in online political trends by using its web site, http://www.DraftNewt.org as the primary vehicle for grassroots organization. Contributions to the campaign will be used in communications strategies to persuade Gingrich to seek and win the Republican nomination for president.
"Gingrich's entry into the Republican primary will set him aside as the conservative alternative to those currently running," Kralik said. "His bold ideas and energy will raise the standards for all presidential aspirants and help the Republican party work to regain America's trust.

CNN, WMUR and The New Hampshire Union Leader will hold the back-to-back debates on April 4 and 5, the first such events to be held of the 2008 presidential campaign. CNN's Wolf Blitzer will moderate the debates with questions coming from WMUR's Scott Spradling and Union-Leader's John DiStaso. WMUR's Jennifer Vaughn will be moderating questions from the audience. The debate will be televised live nationally on CNN and throughout New Hampshire on WMUR.

That's a DEBATE, not a primary election.
Montana is talking about being one of those states that has a primary on Feb. 5th. If that's the case, I'll vote absentee again, since winter tends to be more brutal here in February than in January or any other winter month.
Yes the Primaries are very much front loaded this cycle. That's why I don't think Newt is giving it a serious consideration. Takes to much time to set up organizations and get the funding. But I guess in reality all you need to be set up strong in the early states and worry about the general later on.
I know what he's talking about; but do you want to hear these fools start yammering this damn soon?

Although, I think it's awfully early for campaign '08 to kick off, I am anxious for the first debates, so I can pick my favorite to support.

Yeah I've been trying to figure out what exactly California is doing...
I've been trying to get people to understand that the primaries are so incredibly front-loaded, and as states keep competing to jump even earlier it's getting ever more so...
So you can forget any obscure fave candidates "building momentum" and snagging a nomination - the race will be effectively over in a few weeks and it's going to be won by someone with huge amounts of name recognition and obscene amounts of money going in.
Warp speed comes to mind.

That's interesting information about the NH debates so soon. Newt has to be there or the train will have left the station without him.
I suspect he's not seriously considering running at all, but might come off the bench if the frontrunners have a Howard Dean moment.
What could they say about Newt's past when Hilliary has ol' bubba and so many deaths in her closet and FBI files and Vince Foster.
Oh and I wonder if Helen Thomas will tell us why she thinks Vince Foster was murdered, and why she thinks it happend "right there in the white house" (her exact words~! )
Hillary doesn't like to be questioned, but Wolf would throw her softballs.
I recall that McCain pulled a huge upset and he deserved the win because he campaigned heavily in NH and held several town hall meetings.
Then let him be a policy advisor to the '08 Nominee.
