That's not the only issue, there is no crisis unless you (the average citizen I mean, not you HuntsvilleTxVet personally) are irresponsilbe sexually in your actions: There is a simple solution: DON'T HAVE SEX TILL YOUR MARRIED, ABSTINANCE.
The problem is that I would prefer doing this to avoid health care cost issues years from now.
In a perfect world, kids would remain virgins, but that's not going to happen.
It's hard enough for people to spell "abstinence", let alone accomplish it. ;)
It's the usual Republican balancing act. Ordinary conservatives in their thousands and millions have the votes, but the money needed to run winning campaigns comes from Country Club Republicans and big corporations, in this case Merck.
This one strikes me as pretty stupid. I hope he got a LOT of money for this, because I think he has just killed his political future with this dumb move.
It's stupid of Merck, too. They are making an evil name for themselves. This is not good PR, and whatever money they make selling their drug will not be enough to balance the damage they are doing themselves.
I wish the big corporations and the Country Clubbers would learn to work with the voters on these things. But they seem to want what they want, and want it now, and as a result the necessary coalitions fall apart. That's what happened to the Simon campaign in California, which is the closest we came to taking that state back. The money people and the conservative voters just couldn't get together, and now we're stuck with Arnold.
I tried to contact the governor by phone; the mailbox is full and the main switchboard is constantly busy. It may be time to start talking recall election to get Perry to understand how much people are against his vaccination mandate.
I take it that this was not part of his re-election platform? I'm sure if it was he would have been defeated.
Get a pap smear..it will save more money...but they didnt give any money to the guvvy
We are going to have a national election & it too will be the lesser of two evils. I'll bethcha you will vote for one of these. Why would you be different than 98% of the people. As for me I would say today I will be voting a 3rd party for the 4th out of the last 5th national elections. Our votes in this corrupt "Two-Party Cartel" only valid their corruption. I'm not going to participate in this fraudulent group as any true conservative will not get the nomination.
A "pro-family" group agitating for an illness that destroys families. And, big surprise, the usual antivaccination rhetoric: a single instance of anecdotal data presented against the vaccination, but no mention of the research in favor of it. The idea that it will cause promiscuity. No mention of the painless internet opt-out, not even to dismiss it. The press release reports that the EO requires Gardasil by name, which is not true. Fascinating. Perhaps the state of science education in the country is worse than I thought. Politics certainly isn't helping it, in this case.
The American College of Pediatricians is a solidly conservative activist group, anti-gay marriage, pro-life, two-parent family kind of group.
Their statement on the HPV virus does NOT say this is not a good vaccine for "little girls". They simply say that you don't need it if you aren't having sex, so you shouldn't be REQUIRED to have the vaccine in order to attend school.
Being against forced vaccination should not be confused with claiming the vaccine is ineffective or dangerous, or is not recommended for some people.
Perry's proposal allows parents to opt out of the vaccination, so nobody is being forced to get the vaccination in order to attend schools. It's simply a strongly-worded recommendation, that might open up the vaccine to coverage by some medical plans that won't cover vaccines unless they are required by law.
So he is ordering something even the docs arent ordering and can be helped if not stopped by routine health tests such as pap smears but he is doing it for the children!!!!!!!!!!
He only killed his future if the dozen people who would vote based on this one issue matter to the results.
From their statement.
Even if you're a perfect virgin when you marry, and have never even been kissed.. you can't guarantee that your husband was the same.
So there goes your argument.
Granted, I don't think it's fair to compel people to have the vaccination, but I do think it's a good idea to get the vaccination.
